SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

The Senior Accountant will report to the Group Accounting & Consolidation Senior Director, based in the UK. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations and working collaboratively with the global Finance Team. This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Walnut Creek, California, location.
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (US GAAP).
    • General accounting activities, including calculation and booking of journal entries (provisions, prepayment/accruals, fixed and intangible fixed assets, payroll).
    • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Analyze financial results for discrepancies and sense checks.
    • Provide variance analysis and commentary on financial results to FP&A Team.
    • Assist with the financial data upload for group consolidation purposes.
  2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Process AP and ensure invoices are coded with correct GL codes
    • Address discrepancies and resolve billing issues
    • Reconcile vendor statements and manage bill runs and approval processes.
    • Ensure adherence to AP policies and controls
    • Process and post AR remittances.
    • Monitor and collect receivables in a timely manner, coordinating with the sales team as needed.
    • Manage credit memo issuance and reconciliation in coordination with sales account managers.
  3. Cash & Bank:
  • Perform daily reconciliation of all bank accounts.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation and posting of credit card statements.
  • Provision of monthly cash forecast to CFO.
  1. Payroll:
    • Collaboration with People Team with payroll requirements.
    • Review and verify timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies.
    • Preparation and payment of twice monthly payroll run, using Rippling.
    • Perform off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, and terminations.
    • Respond promptly to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax issues.
    • Manage year-end payroll processes.
    • Prepare and file payroll taxes.
    • Stay updated on changes to labor laws, tax codes, and wage regulations.
    • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local tax law
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with CFO in preparation of budgets and expense forecasts.
    • Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide recommendations for cost control.
  3. Tax Compliance and Audit:
    • Ensure timely preparation and submission of tax filings (ie, state tax filing).
    • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
  4. Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite experience preferred), payroll software (Rippling experience would be an advantage), advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP), tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Ability to think strategically and implement creative solutions
