ABOUT THE TEAM
The Tactical Recon and Strike (TRS) team at Anduril develops aerial small drones (Group 1-3) and all equipment to test, deploy and operate. The team is responsible for taking products like Ghost, Anvil, Bolt and Altius from paper sketches to operational systems. We work in close coordination with specialist teams to solve some of the hardest problems facing our customers. We are looking for software engineers, hardware engineers, roboticists, and front-end mobile developers who are excited about creating a powerful robotics platform that can be tasked and viewed in real-time through a variety of interfaces.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build and enhance Anvil, an autonomous kinetic interceptor for precise and low-collateral defeat of Group 1 and 2 threats. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Anvil team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Anduril’s cutting edge technology, contributing the development of systems that empower operators with real time, actionable intelligence in complex and dynamic environments.
Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance. This position will be located at our headquarters in Costa Mesa, CA (relocation benefits provided.)
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Write and maintain core libraries (targeting and guidance, manufacturing automation etc.) that all robotics platforms at Anduril will use
- Own feature development and rollout for our products - recent examples include building a Software-in-the-Loop simulator, characterizing and improving battery consumption with route planning, and data egress/analysis
- Design, evaluate, and implement sensor integrations that support operation by both human and autonomous planning agents.
- Work closely with our hardware and manufacturing teams during product development, providing quick feedback that contributes to the final hardware design.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Demonstrate experience leading projects or teams with the ability to inspire, mentor, and grow other engineers.
- Proven understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
- Experience with data visualization and analysis in Python or Matlab
- 3+ years of C++ or Rust experience in a Linux development environment
- Eligible for a security clearance (Secret, Top Secret, TS with SCI, or equivalent)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- MS, ideally in areas/fields such as Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering
- Experience programming for embedded and physical devices
- Experience with Linux tools for performance analysis and debugging problems (gdb, ASAN, bpftrace, perf, etc)
- Experience in one or more of the following: motion planning, perception, localization, mapping, controls, and related system performance metrics.
- Understanding of systems software (kernel, device drivers, system calls) and optimizing for limited resources
- Experience with sensor characterization and analysis
- An active security clearance (Secret, Top Secret, TS with SCI, or equivalent)
US Salary Range
$138,000—$207,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
