Check is seeking a dedicated Research Analyst (Part-Time) to join our team. In this role, you'll contribute to impactful research projects. We're seeking a curious, detail-oriented individual eager to make a significant difference.
- Identify and monitor payroll requirements for calculation and reporting at the state and local levels.
- Contribute to 50-state research projects by investigating requirements and updating databases.
- Perform lightweight analysis and interpretation of payroll tax requirements as needed.
- Gather and verify payroll data to ensure accuracy based on project requirements.
- Employ research tools and methodologies to maintain an updated database reflecting changes in payroll tax and reporting requirements.
- Experience in research, preferably in tax or payroll
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Understanding of the payroll or tax sector
- Flexibility and adaptability to new research tools and methodologies
- Proficiency with databases or spreadsheets
- Basic data analysis and interpretation skills
- Attention to detail in data collection
- This is a part-time position, with 20 hours per week expected.
The hourly compensation for this role is dependent on each candidate’s experience, qualifications, and work location:
- The expected range in San Francisco, NYC, LA, and Seattle is between $21 and $23.
- The expected range for all other locations is between $18 and $20.

Check is a payroll-as-a-service API that lets you embed payroll directly in your vertical SaaS, HR, or time-tracking platform. Our API abstracts away the complexities of running payroll: tax calculation, remittance, and filing, plus the movement of money between companies and employees. This enables companies to easily build fully integrated payroll products to offer to their customers.
