We are seeking a Project Engineer to oversee design of solar and storage for small/medium (< 20MW) ground mount projects.  

You Are:

  • Passionate about working within the renewable energy industry for a mission-driven company
  • An avid mentor to engineers who are gaining experience and implementation knowledge
  • Knowledgeable on Medium Voltage interconnection project design, related utility requirements, and the causes and solutions to commonly occurring issues
  • Able to apply your deep knowledge and experience to proactively guide project development away from issues that are costly and/or will result in long implementation timelines
  • A continuous learner, proactively reviewing proposed rule changes and keeping abreast of developing standards and regulations
  • A technical leader in the solar energy field and are respected by your technical peers within standards bodies, utilities, and ISO’s that you have and continue to build relationships with

You Will:

  • Manage sourced engineering firms, ensuring project design follows our standards, industry best practices, and AHJ, Utility Interconnection, and relevant design standards
  • Leverage your knowledge and experience to ensure project design is optimized for both CAPEX and OPEX costs, quality, and implementation efficiency; assess and advise on cost versus implementation timeline trade-offs
  • Work with the members of the Development team, the Engineering team, the Construction team, and the Asset Management team
  • Partner with the Solutions Engineering team to develop innovative products, standardized design, and new methods/processes that improve cost and implementation timeline while maintaining high quality

What You Bring to Catalyze:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical engineering; other advanced degrees will be considered with relevant experience and demonstrated knowledge
  • 4+ years of experience in design of solar projects, including but to limited to:   
  • Experience designing solar+storage projects and/or standalone storage projects
  • Experience with all engineering aspects of designing ground and roof mount solar PV for small/medium (< 20MW) projects 
  • Experience with community solar projects 
  • Experience with design/integration of EV charging a plus
  • A Professional Engineer, licensed in one or more of the following states: CA, TX, NY, MA, IL, VA, and ME, with preference for NY
  • Experience working with PV development processes, including land assessment, studies supporting discretionary permitting, identifying engineering and constructability issues early in the development process
  • Experience with engineering assessment/diligence as part of project acquisitions
  • Proficiency with Office tools, communication tools (Slack, Teams) and scheduling/construction management tools
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support effective execution and collaboration with internal teams and contracted resources; depending on location, 20-40% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and car insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the state where you reside
