About the Opportunity

The Mills Institute at Northeastern University is seeking a Program Manager who is passionate about the Institute’s mission and has experience delivering programs that align with that mission. The Program Manager will work closely with the Mills Institute team to design and manage the Mills Institute suite of programs and help the Institute grow the program offerings both on the Oakland campus and globally within the Northeastern network.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience or training in working with cross-sectional communities is preferred.
  • Experience with the development, planning and implementation of events, workshops, and programs for a diverse and global community, in an academic setting is preferred
  • Strong student-orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, candidate must be able to clearly and effectively communicate information to students and colleagues
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong customer service or student service skills
  • Ability to manage key relationships across campus
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of financial transactions
  • Ability to work an on-site schedule and occasional hybrid during non-peak student periods
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. This position requires the flexibility to work before and after regular hours, from time to time, depending on the needs of the programs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Program Oversight and Logistics - 40%

  • Work with Associate Directors and Program Leads to design, build and deliver program components including workshops, events, showcases, speakers, etc.
  • Recruit and manage faculty and external industry professionals as mentors and speakers for Institute programs
  • Manage student recruitment and communications
  • Capture and organize feedback to track success of the programs
  • Help oversee the Student Assistants to assist with program logistics

2. Event Coordination and Execution - 20%

  • Organize events including reserving space, transportation, facilities/audiovisual arrangements, catering, set-up and breakdown, preparing materials

3. Marketing & Promotions - 30%

  • Produce all marketing and promotional materials for programs
  • Prepare materials and organize the Institute’s representation at campus fairs
  • Manage the Institute’s Instagram account and postings related to the programs and events
  • Coordinate promotion efforts both digitally and on campus

4. Student Support: - 10%

  • Support student participants in their growth and development through Institute programs
  • Identify campus partners and make referrals as needed
  • Create guidelines for programs considering relevant University policy

5. Other duties as assigned

The expected hiring range for this position is USD $68,640 to USD $74,075, based upon the position’s scope and responsibilities.

Expected Hiring Range:

$58,100.00 - $82,066.25

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
