Who we are

The problem: Every minute matters in fire response.  As climate change amplifies the intensity of wildfires—with longer fire seasons, dryer fuels, and faster winds—new ignitions spread faster and put more communities at risk. Today, most wildfires are detected by bystanders and reported via 911, meaning it can take hours to detect a fire, verify its exact location and size, and dispatch first responders. Fire authorities need a faster way to detect, confirm, and pinpoint fires so that they can quickly respond—preventing small flare-ups from becoming devastating infernos.

About Pano: Pano AI is a 90-person growth stage start-up, headquartered in San Francisco, that is the leader in early wildfire detection and intelligence, helping fire professionals respond to fires faster and more safely—with the right equipment, timely information, and enhanced coordination—so that they can stop a new ignition before it grows.  Pano AI combines advanced hardware, software, and artificial intelligence into an easy-to-use, web-based platform. Leveraging a network of ultra-high-definition, 360-degree cameras atop high vantage points, as well as satellite and other data feeds, Pano AI produces a real-time picture of threats in a geographic region and delivers immediate, actionable intelligence.

Fast Company named Pano AI one of the Top 10 most innovative companies in AI of 2023. Pano AI has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, NBC News, and a national TV commercial produced by strategic partner T-Mobile. With dozens of government and enterprise customers, its reach extends across 10 states in the U.S., five states in Australia, and BC, Canada, helping protect more than 20 million acres of land. Backed by $45M in venture capital funding, investors include Congruent Ventures, Initialized Capital, Salesforce Ventures, T-Mobile Ventures, and Valor Equity Partners. The Role

As a member of our product team you will nurture and grow how our product enables emergency managers and wildland firefighters to protect lives, communities, and our forests. We support customers across multiple industries (utilities, forestry, renewables, etc) that face an ever-increasing risk of wildfire and a growing Wildland Urban Interface.

Pano’s product is not solely limited to a SaaS platform for its customers and end users. It incorporates hardware installation, calibration, and maintenance; AI-driven wildfire detection, paired with validation against external data sets; human-in-the-loop confirmation and pinpointing for incidents; white-glove customer engagement and information augmentation; and much more.

As a Product Manager on the Detection Services team, you lead both product strategy and execution across these capabilities to ensure our product delivers clear value to our users and supports our mission.  You also develop empathy for your customers so you can optimally translate those opportunities into well-defined problems that your partners can seek solutions for. As a champion for your product domain you are the voice of the customer both external and internal, driving transformation in your product, services and the organization.

  • Influence the product line strategy and roadmap, including long-term vision, user segment insights, technical innovation, market trends, and operational performance.
  • Be the voice of the customer both internally and externally, curating product definitions and communicating requirements from our customers.
  • Evangelizing Pano operational practices and services, internally and externally including white papers, marketing slides, and data analysis.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams such as design, engineering, operations, customer success, and the Pano Intelligence Center to drive product outcomes.

What you’ll bring

  • 5-7 years of experience in product management and technical program management.
  • BS/BA Degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience.
  • A track record of shipping successful products.
  • You’ve led complex multidisciplinary programs & improved manual procedures.
  • The technical chops to learn new tools, technologies, and concepts to work collaboratively together with engineering and customers.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work fast and prioritize different tasks that are sometimes ambiguous.
  • Humility, empathy, and open-mindedness - no egos.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in an early-stage startup (<100 engineers).
  • Experience defining and leading the implementation for a product that combines software, services, and manual operation procedures.
  • Experience building AI products, complex UX workflows, or hardware product management.
  • A passion for climate change adaptation and/or firefighting.
