The Role
The Foundational Engineering (Fe) Product Manager, Financial Technology, is part of the Product organization at Block, overseeing financial technology systems like Finance and Strategy, Controllership, Tax, Reconciliation, Treasury, and Procurement. You'll collaborate with senior partners to transform financial systems for growth, focusing on automation and AI capabilities. Key outcomes include automating the monthly close, enhancing data quality for the F&S team, and improving GL health through better reconciliation. A strong understanding of finance fundamentals is important. You'll challenge the status quo, identify dependencies, manage risks, and foster partnerships across Finance teams. Additionally, you'll work with external and systems integrators in the Procurement Transformation stream.
Success in this role will require creativity to re-imagine possible future processes that will impact our ability to grow through automation. The scope will include a range of financial planning requirements to improve and create operational processes and automate important steps.
In this role, you will lead our Product function, advancing the maturity of Fe's Product model. Your responsibilities will include defining and managing success metrics and OKRs, shaping and executing product roadmaps, and mentoring junior Product Managers.
You Will
- Represent the business perspective in collaborations with Product, Engineering, and integration partners.
- Provide insights into planning system requirements using experience and vision.
- Lead internal projects to enhance F&S planning, reporting, and analytics.
- Publish roadmaps and metrics quarterly to Block leadership.
- Tackle complex issues requiring deep industry and business knowledge.
- Guide M&A activities in corporate development projects.
- Ensure all financial products and roadmaps meet privacy, regulatory, and security standards.
You Have
- 8+ years delivering secure, business-critical software, platform migrations, and data solutions in regulated environments.
- 8+ years managing accounting and finance processes.
- Experience translating complex needs into system functionality and identifying improvement paths.
- 8+ years developing strategies and launching data platform products.
- Experience in global organizations with large-scale ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Finance management practices and leading Agile transitions.
- Experience communicating product updates, milestones, and progress to internal and external partners for Finance Automation initiatives.
