Working at Atlassian
Atlassian acquired Loom to lead in remote first, asynchronous work. With Loom's async video expertise and Atlassian's team collaboration understanding, we aim to innovate and empower customers for richer collaboration. Join us on our mission to make the impossible possible.
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
The role
Loom is looking for a Product Designer, responsible for designing Core Product experiences for the Loom standalone product. The Core Product team focuses on solving problems and adding value to Loom creators and viewers. As a key contributor you will be responsible for solving problems in all stages of video, screen capturing, or meeting recording creation: From pre-recording, in-recording and post-recording. You will craft experiences that make it simple, coherent and seamless for our users to create, edit, and share looms. Your direct contributions will drive impact, engagement and retention. You'll ship solutions to challenging problems and get feedback directly from customers.
You'll report to the Core Product Design Manager at Loom. This is a U.S. remote role. To help our teams work better together, you must be located between PST and EST.
Responsibilities

  • You'll be a key member of the Core Product organization, collaborating with other designers to make their work and the whole team better.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and User Research partners to represent the design team and advocate the user voice
  • Partner with product designers on other R&D teams to create holistic experiences that span the full customer lifecycle.
  • Bring a user centric approach to solving problems across the video creation, editing, and sharing lifecycle.
  • Sketch and prototype ideas to quickly access viability, and design the fine grained details of interactions
  • Drive high fidelity designs with great attention to detail all the way through to delivery
  • Conduct usability testing to inform your design decisions
  • Contribute to vision, roadmapping, design critique, team planning, and product and design channels
  • Contribute to Loom's Lens Design System and Atlassian Design System and work with our Systems Designer.
  • Inspire a culture of design excellence, where innovation is the norm

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Product Design organizations that have shipped software to users, working closely with Product and Engineering teammates to develop the strategy and rationale for features.
  • Experience working in the video space; creation, editing, workflows - is advantageous for this role.
  • Demonstrable experience working with data, conducting and measuring product design experiments, and a passion for setting and achieving OKRs and metrics that materially impact the business.
  • An outstanding portfolio, with presentable case studies showcasing a foundation in typography, interaction and visual design, product sense, and idea generation.
  • Experience collaborating with a diverse team in a rapid growth environment. Huge plus if you've worked with remote teammates and understand the communication patterns of working with highly distributed teams.
  • A learning and growth mindset: We strive to continuously improve, iterate, and integrate what we learn - from our work and with each other.
  • Experience with prototyping as a means to explore and convey design solutions.
  • Empathy and resilience: empathy for our customers, to build a product and a service they'll love. Empathy for our coworkers, to build a workplace we'll love. Resilience to be able to take feedback from anywhere, consider it gracefully, and fold it into your thinking and your work.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and storytelling skills.
