Where and how you can work
Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we've made our way from down under, to a hub San Francisco, which is now home to our US operations. For this role, we're looking for candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area, though you have flexibility to be hybrid from this location.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Product Merchandise Manager to set and implement the strategic direction of our new product form factor and category lines. This role focuses on the introduction of new product form factors, management of category performance, product strategy, pricing strategy/implementation as well as driving action items and special projects in our print-on-demand and import categories. Ideal candidates will have experience in product development, category management, cross-functional collaboration, creative problem solving, and process creation, possess robust analytical and reporting skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This person would be responsible for the print product roadmap (new products and revisions); working closely with our PMM on a marketing strategy; ensure all involved teams are aligned and have what they need, when they need it; and monitoring on-going product performance.
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Develop end-to-end product strategy & assortment
  • Demonstrate planning fundamentals, sku productivity, and model line management for optimized assortment as well as planning for revenue targets.
  • Requires merchandising strategy around price points and competitive analysis
  • Collaborative with Design and product development to ensure the right product is developed and launched at the right time, meeting the customer need
  • Collaborative with cross-functional partners( Finance, OPS, Templates,Product Eng, Marketing, CHT)
  • Finance for ARR, forecasting, margin controls, and alignment
  • Marketing for end-to-end product selling strategy and communication
  • Deep understanding of trend as it applies to the marketplace, design, and product demand


Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate and drive category performance including sales growth, productivity, margin, sell-through and other key metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce new product form factors to our categories and influence category performance, including product assortment, pricing, promotions, marketing, site merchandising.
  • Run weekly and monthly reporting and conduct ad hoc analyses to evaluate product and category performance, including growth, mix and profitability.
  • Run and improve on recurring analyses to evaluate pricing and margins and support decision-making process around price optimization.
  • Take ownership of action item follow-up, such as working with cross-functional teams on executing price changes, product discontinuations and website updates.
  • Collaborate with product development and design team to ensure we are offering a compelling assortment of product form factors that meets customer needs and drives revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support site merchandising and marketing decisions, such as product recommendations and featured imagery.
  • Conduct competitor reviews to monitor competitor assortment, pricing, promotions and product introductions.


You're probably a match if

  • BA degree or equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years of analytical experience
  • Robust knowledge of Excel and comfortable building analytical models
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work individually and as a team player to execute projects
  • Highly organized with focus on owning a project through all stages of execution
  • Ability to think critically and adapt quickly in a flexible environment
  • Entrepreneurial attitude/self-starter
  • Experience working with product development, factories, and design teams strongly preferred.

The target salary range for this position is $108,000 to $168,000. When calculating offers, we make salary decisions based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
