As a part of the *Foundation* Software Engineering team you will drive the continual improvement of Roblox’s infrastructure systems. In this role you will be responsible for designing, building and improving software systems to support firmware qualification & updates, end-to-end server lifecycle and data center planning & operations.  

You Will:

  • Develop and maintain tools to automate firmware testing and provisioning
  • Investigate, triage, and debug hardware system level issues at the firmware level, working across the organization
  • Develop  tools to help automate the certification, benchmarking and support of server hardware platforms
  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems to automate server lifecycle management from rack delivery, provisioning, firmware update, server diagnosis & repair, to server decommission. 
  • Lead and collaborate with other engineers in the team to build scalable automation systems. 

You Have:

  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with programming languages, like Python or Go.
  • Experience in building software systems, backend services & APIs for large-scale infrastructures.
  • Experience with firmware qualifications for systems.
  • Experience in building tests & automation for firmware and other software updates for systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern data center server platforms & technologies.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and commonly used low level protocols like DHCP and TFTP
  • Linux System Administration knowledge, such as shells, daemons, services and software deployment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$283,780$331,640 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).

We are requiring employees to be in the office three days a week – with core days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Mondays and Fridays, employees may choose to work remotely, although the office will still be open.
