As a recognized leader in providing Private Markets Solutions to clients across the globe we manage approximately $130 billion in discretionary assets and have oversight of an additional $810 in non-discretionary assets as of June 30, 2024.
 

The Opportunity:

Join our team as we look to expand to satisfy the needs of our growing client base. We are looking to hire a Principal to join our Fund Investment and Relationship Management Team in San Francisco. In this role, you will work within our Investment Team to build and maintain strong relationships with our West Coast clients while developing and strengthening a solid understanding of the global primary fund universe across all private market strategies.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading day-to-day client coverage including regular client visits.
  • Managing junior resources to oversee creation of key client deliverables.
    • Strategic plan creation / oversight
    • Portfolio construction alongside Portfolio Management Group
      • Quarterly Review of portfolio
      • Allocation discussions
    • Reporting & Monitoring for client portfolios
      • Regular portfolio updates
      • Quarterly reports
    • Client communications
      • Pipeline calls / monthly calls
      • Market updates
    • Ad-hoc client requests
  • Leading cross-selling and up-selling of HL products and services with existing clients
  • Partnering with Sales/ Client Solutions to support pitch activities for prospective clients by being the expert on our management of Separate Account and Advisory relationships
  • Managing and/or cultivating fund manager relationships, fostering West Coast US manager coverage to drive opportunities alongside our secondaries and direct investing teams
  • Overseeing the due diligence process for primary investments
    • Lead fund manager on-site visits.
    • Review all diligence materials as completed by Analyst or Analyst & deal manager.
    • Present deals at Pre-Investment Committee meetings.
  • Developing expertise in specific primary strategies, enabling ability to speak to similarities/differences of managers who pursue similar investment approaches.
  • Ability to speak and become a subject matter expert on all Private Market strategies & competitive landscapes.
  • Attending Annual/Advisory board meetings & conferences.
  • Assisting in the development and mentoring of junior professionals.

Your background will include:

  • 10+ years of work experience in a financial industry/ private markets client-facing setting
  • University degree. A Master’s degree and/or CFA are a plus.  
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of our proprietary systems
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to work proactively and independently in a team setting 
  • Ability to Travel
  • Fluency in English required

Salary range for this position: $175,000 to $275,000 per year. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. You may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
