FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

We are searching for a curious, creative and competitive News Producer with a vision for the digital future. What You’ll Do:

The News Producer will have a curiosity for their community and the world around them; be creative in developing unique and engaging content for our broadcast and digital platforms; and be competitive in monitoring other newscasts, challenging themselves to be different and working to continually elevate KTVU coverage.

  • Select timely and engaging content, assemble stories in a logical and organized fashion, book guests, and build graphics and other visuals to create relevant, contemporary and competitive broadcasts and digital productions.
  • Write and edit news copy clearly, for broadcast, online and other digital platforms.
  • Present finished stories in a professional and engaging manner for viewers/readers to be able to comprehend the latest local, national and international news. 
  • Think creatively and critically about both content and production techniques.
  • Contribute ideas daily and recognize what types of stories or shows would make for interesting and compelling television and online content.
  • Prioritize breaking news and adapt to a fast-paced, quickly changing, live production environment in a professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with peers and supervisors and develop contacts to aid in newsgathering. 
  • Be enterprising and self-motivated and able to work independently to develop newscasts or other assignments, including streaming shows, and specials. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary. 
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all journalistic standards and production techniques used to create visual and compelling on-air and online content.

What You’ll Bring:

High school diploma is required; 4-year College degree is preferred.  Candidate should have some experience with fast-paced television productions. Ignite, iNews, AutoCue experience or other newscast automation is required.  A strong technical understanding of new technology is also required.  Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $105,000.00-116,700.00 annually for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $87,500.00-97,200.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
