West Monroe is currently seeking a Managing Director with prior experience and passion for the High-Tech & Software (HT&S) industry, nationally. This leader will serve High-Tech & Software clients and Private Equity investors with a focus on Enterprise software, and tech-enabled B2B services businesses. Engagements range across growth strategy and transformation, and product strategy, design, and build. In addition to selling and client service delivery, the leader will be part of the industry leadership team that helps shape strategies to grow our accounts, build our offerings and team capabilities to drive strong double-digit growth. 

 

As a member of the practice leadership team, you will have responsibility for driving client delivery, relationship development at existing accounts (particularly growing existing accounts), developing thought leadership, and mentoring/growing the next generation of leaders. As a Managing Directors within West Monroe, you are responsible for: 

 

  • Develop and manage executive relationships (i.e. C-Suite in mid-market firms, VP/SVP in large publicly traded companies) to position West Monroe as a trusted advisor 
  • Support opportunities to provide prospects and clients with advisory services for High-Tech & Software businesses and Private Equity Investors; collaborate with practice partners to support these opportunities 
  • Understand client investment needs/constraints and help tailor proposals appropriately to meet their needs and to be able to demonstrate quantifiable impact 
  • Work with West Monroe’s functional practices (e.g. M&A, Operations Excellence, Tech etc.) to shape and scope multi-disciplinary projects for HT&S clients and prospects 
  • Develop go-to-market (GTM) messaging and sales materials to support business development for prospects and clients 
  • Create work plans, pricing estimates, and risk assessments for potential engagements 
  • Actively participate in Software / Technology and M&A industry events 
  • Attend networking events and actively build and leverage a professional network and affiliate network in the local community 
  • Nurture and expand executive relationships at accounts to grow share of wallet  

 

  • Manage teams serving High-Tech & Software and Private Equity clients while demonstrating advisory capabilities with high level client counterparts such as C-level executives, Business Unit GMs, and Private Equity Deal and Operating Partners 
  • Execute strategy and operations improvement engagements for High-Tech & Software companies. 
  • Play a key role in driving complex transformations within the High-Tech & Software clients such as GTM transformation, IT (Information Technology) transformation, product strategy, design, and build.  
  • Potentially, contribute to fast-paced due diligence engagements for Private Equity and Corporate Strategic clients investing in High-Tech & Software, with an ability to evaluate the market opportunity, product technology, operating model, and their effects on margins, revenue, and growth risks. 

 

  • Build data-driven methodologies and assets for evaluating High-Tech & Software businesses and manage related internal initiatives 
  • Enhance analysis and presentation frameworks used in High-Tech & Software advisory 
  • Collaborate with a team of High-Tech & Software industry, technology, and operational consulting teams to develop and enhance delivery capabilities across West Monroe’s practice areas 
  • Actively participate in the performance management process 
  • Actively participate in recruiting and retaining top quality consultants 
  • Assist with company campus and experienced recruiting  

 

  • 15+ years of work experience  at a high growth technology environment / or leading management consulting firm with expertise within sales strategy, business development, pricing, account management, sales operations, sales enablement, and bringing new products and services to market:  
  • 7+ years of Management, or strategy consulting for Software and/or High-Tech clients in a team-based, client-facing capacity; with demonstrated experience of selling and delivering to those clients' 
  • Operational role within the High-Tech & Software sector, particularly in strategy or GTM operations roles  
  • Knowledge of go-to-market practices in a technology business (e.g., sales effectiveness, pricing, sales operations) and/or product delivery (e.g., product management, software development) 
  • Demonstrated background and experience, positioning and managing larger transformation initiatives at high-tech and software companies.  
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • Experience managing client relationships 
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and quality assurance experience 
  • Strong communication skills to be able to work with C-level clients 
  • Ability to travel up to 50%; Travel is short term (2-3 days on-site per diligence engagement, 50-75% during longer-term engagements) 
  • Ability to be in-person three days a week is required 

Managing Directors at West Monroe are expected to be in-person three days a week. This can include being present at client sites, in the market, or in-office for internal collaboration. There is flexibility and an understanding that schedules ebb and flow, but a core belief is that when we are together with our people and our clients, we build stronger relationships and are better equipped to sell and deliver value. 

 

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here.  Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.​ Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale. 
Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use after successful completion of one year of employment.​
