ABOUT THE TEAM
As our team continues to quickly grow, we are looking for motivated candidates that are inspired to work within an extremely energetic, creative, and innovative team that is passionate about subsea robotics and ocean exploration. We are seeking a Manager, Field Operations to join Anduril, working in a cutting-edge start-up environment to advance the state-of-the-possible in subsea robotics.
As part of the Field Operations team at Anduril, your role will involve global deployment and support for Anduril’s multiple Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) platforms. You'll steer Field Test Engineers through product deployment and problem-solving, counsel program managers on operational design for technical efficacy, and convey targeted suggestions for product improvement back to our engineering groups. Your scope will include local and deployed operations in austere environments, ensuring the successful employment of Anduril products, and shaping the long-term sustainment of these products.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Manage a cadre of Senior and Lead Field Test Engineers dedicated to advancing defense related capabilities across a suite of government programs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship for Field Test Engineers on the team to operationalize the latest advances in AUV technology and successfully execute customer facing operations and demonstrations
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists to integrate cutting edge equipment and push the boundary of today’s autonomy and AI.
- Plan, lead, and execute day-to-day operations and longer duration events for multiple AUV platforms by ensuring all technical details are properly addressed, personnel skills are matched with assigned tasks, and operational risks are managed.
- Coordinate test execution and operations with government customers, partners, vendors, and logistics companies.
- Deploy globally in support of at-sea AUV operations from a variety of support vessel types.
- Support the creation, review, and execution of test plans during at sea testing while working with integration and test engineers. Provide constant feedback to the product team to rapidly mature our systems.
- Review user documentation for all aspects of AUV operations, including AUV user guide, mission planning guide, etc.
- Contribute to next generation design of vehicle systems and support systems including supporting software UI design for AUV systems.
- Support hiring, staffing, and asset/resource demand planning across defense programs.
- Travel and support government operations approximately 50% of the time, sometimes for multiple weeks at a time
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven leader and manager with technical proficiency in at least one of the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Ocean Engineering.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to delegate, inspire, and foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, and rapidly progress to AUV field expert in support of internal field test engineers and external government customers.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems in unstructured situations and identify the personnel mix to ensure mission success.
- Ability to develop complex operational and logistics plans to move people and things effectively, over long distances, in unfamiliar locations.
- Extensive hands-on (field operations, systems administration, or test) technical experience.
- Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and government customers; demonstrated ability to collect differing opinions and reconcile them in order to achieve agreement.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including significant time spent offshore on vessels of all sizes.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience developing high level/strategic plans that support company objectives and government customer needs in the pursuit of deploying, fielding, and operating robotic system or family of systems.
- Experience managing a group or groups of highly motivated, dedicated and intelligent individuals who operate and test complex systems, preferably in a maritime environment.
- Experience integrating subsea acoustic sensors, underwater navigation, and communication systems.
- Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and executing operational procedures for a diverse set of equipment and systems.
- Experience with government acquisition and reporting processes and government contracts.
- Experience with leading on deck operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with tools and electronics.
- Experience interfacing with government customers.
US Salary Range
$128,000—$192,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
