Role Description

Our Virtual First model of working is a pace-setter in terms of the future of work - while remote work is our primary experience, we come together in-person quarterly for team offsites and special learning programs.  

We are seeking an exceptional learning and development leader to help build the future of learning in Virtual First - which includes innovative and impactful leadership programs that drive behavior change and business outcomes, engaging onboarding that helps our Droplets integrate faster to Dropbox, and best-in-class digital and AI-enabled learning to support employees to learn in the flow of work.

This role is is a part of the Learning and Organization Development team, and reports into the VP of L&OD for Dropbox.  It’s a high-visibility role that will allow you to influence the overall strategy for learning as well as build and design future programs.  You’ll be a key partner with our HRBP team, the Office of the CEO, Communications, and Virtual First teams as we design and deliver enterprise-wide learning programs. You’ll be a people manager for the Learning Design team, and will have two Learning Business Partners as peers who will drive function-specific and/or tailored programming for senior leaders and team effectiveness through the business.

The ideal candidate is an experienced practitioner and people manager with a strong track record of designing innovative learning programs that drive behavior change. You have deep expertise driving results in leadership development and manager effectiveness.  Experience with learning innovation through digital learning/AI is a must. You should be energized by collaborating cross-functionally, and able to balance strategic thinking, team operations, and practitioner work. You are an energetic and effective facilitator and drive engagement through gatherings, programs, and team experiences. You demonstrate agility in the face of competing demands and organization change, and are able to deliver high quality work at speed and scale.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Office of the CEO, Virtual First, Talent Management, and HRBP teams to understand Dropbox skill gaps and desired behaviors and influence our overall talent strategy
  • Articulate a vision for learning at Dropbox, within a Virtual First context
  • Create understanding around the learning strategy and learning offerings with crisp verbal and written communication

Leadership Development

  • Craft Dropbox’s leadership development vision, strategy, and curriculum (with input from business leaders, org Learning Business Partners and HRBPs)
  • Design and execute manager and HiPo programs to drive skills transfer and behavior change at scale, leveraging a variety of learning modalities and a portfolio of vendors
  • Facilitate learning programs as needed, especially for HiPo and manager programs

Learning Innovation & Technology

  • Pilot and test learning innovations to create memorable, unique, and impactful learning experiences
  • Understand the latest developments in learning technology, in order to build a best-in-class learning architecture for Dropbox (leveraging AI, digital learning content, gamification, etc.)
  • Understand and leverage AI to reduce the administrative burden of running learning programs as well as customizing and personalizing learning in the flow of work
  • Lead engineering enablement in an interim capacity, leveraging digital platforms to improve specific tech skills

Learning Design 

  • Leverage a product development mindset for our learning programs, ensuring that our programs address employee needs and drive the right outcomes in a remote-first environment
  • Utilize foundational adult learning theory and best in class design methods for maximum learner engagement and skills transfer/behavior change
  • Provide direction for curating an organized learning content library that can be used to support existing learning programs and emergent learning requests

 Execution & Program Management

  • Manage a team of 5 that executes the following programs: HiPo Programs, Leadership Development for early and middle managers, Dropbox Orientation, Employee Development, Digital Learning, Engineering Enablement
  • Ensure that all our learning programs are planned thoughtfully to optimize for the employee experience and for maximum ROI - discovery, design, enrollment, communication, marketing, feedback, and metrics
  • Partner with other teams (such as the Virtual First team) to integrate best practices, and desired behaviors to existing trainings, workflows, etc.  Support the creation of self-serve resources for team effectiveness with the Virtual First team
  • Roll out new programs and experiences in alignment with stakeholders, with an eye for change management and engagement

Operational Excellence & Planning

  • Measure ROI and impact across all learning programs
  • Plan and allocate team resources to deliver a large portfolio of programs on time and on budget
  • Manage the learning team budget and quarterly budget updates with the Finance Team

Requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in learning strategy and execution for leadership and employee development
  • Expertise in learning design, adult learning methodologies
  • Expertise in leadership development and learning technology (including application of AI/ML)
  • Strong people management skills, managing a team in a remote/hybrid context
  • Experienced facilitator
  • Background / familiarity with analytics and leveraging insights to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor’s Degree 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering effective learning experiences in a distributed/remote-first environment
  • Team Effectiveness certifications (Enneagram, Insights, CliftonStrengths)
  • Coaching Certification
  • Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology or related business field (e.g. OD, OE, Learning and Org Change, etc.)
