As a Lead IT Operations Engineer on the Corporate Engineering team, you’ll spend your time focusing on building sustainable, elegant solutions to complex problems across the business. Our primary customers are Deputy employees, but we manage the tools, apps and systems that our teams use to get their work done as well as take care of our customers and build products. This role is global, and nearly every project you’ll work on will impact every Deputy employee. This is a “customer facing” role; while we are a remote-first company, you’ll be speaking with staff over #slack, email, tickets, video conferencing and more. You are seeking a skilled and experienced Okta Workflows and Identity Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the Okta Workflows platform and identity management solutions to meet the organization's needs. At a high level, this comprises driving all Identity and account onboarding-provisioning and offboarding-deprovisioning operations. Also policy authentication models to deliver secure, criteria driven and least-privilege based access control. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in Okta Workflows, identity management, and cloud technologies. You will also be responsible for managing our Kandji MDM platform and all aspects of Apple macOS fleet management, ensuring the smooth integration of account automation through hardware provisioning and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Okta Workflows solutions to automate identity and access management processes.
  • Design and implement workflows to automate user provisioning, deprovisioning, and user lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather requirements and translate them into Okta Workflows configurations.
  • Integrate Okta Workflows with various systems, applications, and APIs to enable seamless data flow and process automation.
  • Manage and administer our MDM instance (Kandji), including integration with Apple Business Manager and maintenance of blueprints
  • Maintain Kandji’s provisioning LiftOff process to deliver zero-touch Macbook deployments
  • Support, administer and manage Google Workspace (formerly GSuite) and related 
  • applications-- including knowledge of mail routing, email security and protocols, such as DKIM or DMARC, etc.
  • Support, administer, and manage SaaS applications — Zendesk, Atlassian Google, Slack, 1Password, CrowdStrike, etc.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in the field of identity management and workflow automation.
  • Document and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, workflows, and integration details.

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in identity and access management, with at least 3 years focused on Okta.
  • Proven experience as an Okta Workflows Engineer or similar orchestration role.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) concepts and best practices.
  • MDM experience (Jamf, Kandji, InTune, other)
  • Google Workspace or Office 365 Administration experience
  • Experience with workflow automation tools and technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and integration techniques.
  • Strong understanding of security standards, compliance requirements, and IAM best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Perferred Skills

  • Familiarity with other IAM solutions (e.g., Azure AD, Ping Identity) and their integration with Okta.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Okta Certified Professional, Okta Certified Consultant) are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

The pay range for this position takes into account multiple factors that are all considered to determine an individual candidate’s starting pay. These factors include but are not limited to: market factors, experience, technical and non-technical skills, education, certifications, and other business acumen. This range does not include any potential incentive programs, such as individual or organizational performance bonuses.
