The Lead Technical Solutions Architect - HRIS is a pivotal member of the Digital team, driving the design, development, testing, and deployment of integrations between Workday and various third-party applications as part of the hire-to-retire digital portfolio. This role requires technical expertise in Workday, with a primary focus on designing and implementing scalable, efficient solutions for global organizations. As a technology lead, this position is responsible for supporting technical roles and delivering robust solution design and architecture of systems while aligning with organizational priorities. As an integral part of the Digital team, this role will ensure smooth data flow across systems, troubleshoot integration issues, and contribute to the enhancement of our Workday ecosystem.

What You Will Lead/Do or Key Responsibilities

Operational Stabilization

  • Assess, triage, and resolve HR technology integration challenges to ensure consistent performance and establish trust with stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement robust support processes, SLAs, and governance frameworks to deliver dependable system operations.

  • Manage and resolve Tier 3 tickets related to Workday integrations, and technical configurations.

Stakeholder Engagement and Trust-Building

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders through transparent communication and delivery of consistent, impactful outcomes.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for integration and technical issues and ensure timely resolution to meet business needs.

  • Collaborate closely with HR and business leaders to align technical requirements with organizational objectives.

  • Advise on best practices for integration design, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

  • Participate in the continuous improvement of Workday integration processes.

System and Process Optimization

  • Lead the design and architecture of systems within the hire-to-retire portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability for future needs.

  • Develop and maintain architecture frameworks and best practices for digital HR systems.

  • Work collaboratively with technical and HRIS teams to deliver solutions that balance immediate business demands with long-term strategic goals.

  • Utilize Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (WWS), and other integration tools to develop custom integrations as needed.

Integrations 

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Workday and other enterprise systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process efficiency.

  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and external vendors to implement, test, and manage integration solutions that support business operations.

  • Monitor integration performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system updates do not disrupt workflows.

  • Coordinate deployment activities to move integrations from development to production environments.

  • Monitor integration performance, address any issues or failures, and implement necessary fixes or improvements.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all integrations, workflows, and technical specifications.

Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure compliance with data security standards and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) while integrating sensitive HR, payroll, and benefits data.

  • Manage and ensure proper access controls are in place for integration-related systems and processes.

Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Workday and other technology vendors to ensure access to best practices, support, and timely resolution of issues.

  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to maximize value and alignment with organizational needs.

  • Oversee vendor performance, ensuring they meet agreed-upon SLAs and deliverables.

Foundation for Innovation

  • Once operations are stable, identify and execute opportunities for automation and innovation, embedding AI and low-code solutions to drive productivity gains.

  • Craft and execute a digital roadmap that balances immediate needs with long-term goals, leveraging composable architectures and AI-first strategies.

  • Continuously push boundaries to deliver forward-thinking solutions that stay ahead of market trends.

Agile Execution

  • Adopt an Agile approach to system enhancements, ensuring flexibility to pivot as business needs evolve.

  • Drive effective backlog management, prioritizing initiatives and allocating resources for maximum impact.

Qualifications / What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Workday integrations, including Workday Studio, Workday Web Services (WWS), and Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB).

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as XSLT, Groovy, or similar.

  • Familiarity with data mapping, transformation, and load techniques.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve integration issues efficiently.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and validate integration data to ensure accuracy and reliability.

  • Deep expertise in Workday HCM, including Advanced Compensation, Talent Acquisition/Onboarding, Time and Attendance, and Reporting.

  • Demonstrated success in stabilizing and optimizing data movement and system architecture in a global organization.

  • Strong technical acumen, including governance frameworks, automation strategies, and integration development.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Workday Integration Certification (Workday Studio or Workday EIB) preferred.

  • Workday HCM or other relevant certifications are a plus.
