Polychain Capital, a fast-moving cryptocurrency hedge fund, is seeking a highly skilled and proactive IT Engineer to join our small but growing team. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco and blends hands-on technical support with high-level infrastructure planning and implementation. You'll play a critical part in managing corporate IT systems, ensuring seamless end-user experiences, and helping shape our long-term IT and security strategy.
Position Overview:
This full-time, hybrid role blends day-to-day technical support with broader infrastructure planning and security responsibilities. You’ll be the go-to person for IT operations—ensuring our global team stays productive, secure, and well-supported. From managing Apple devices and AV systems to implementing endpoint security and streamlining IT processes, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, high-trust environment. This is a great fit for someone who’s equally comfortable solving hands-on issues and driving long-term IT strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary helpdesk technician, resolving day-to-day IT issues for a global team of technical and non-technical users.
- Troubleshooting/maintaining Apple endpoints.
- Provide operational support and strategic guidance for all corporate IT systems.
- Provision, configure, and manage laptops and mobile devices using MDM tools.
- Provide AV tech support during webinars, remote meetings, and onsite events.
- Support domestic and international logistics for hardware shipping and deployment.
- Collaborate with security and engineering teams to automate IT operations and repetitive tasks.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and process guides.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours support.
- Continuously improve vendor relationships and IT infrastructure project roadmaps.
- Support incident response efforts using SIEM/EDR tools.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience managing and supporting corporate IT systems in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with macOS, iOS administration.
- Deep understanding of user administration.
- Familiarity with MDM platforms (Jamf, etc.
- Working knowledge of AV systems and remote collaboration tools.
- Experience with SaaS application management and access control best practices.
- Familiar with office networking.
- Experience with EDR endpoint security tools.
- Ability to work independently, multitask effectively, and communicate clearly across teams.
- Located in or willing to commute to San Francisco 2–3 days per week.
Competitive Compensation: $150,000 annual salary (dependent on experience) plus eligibility for discretionary annual performance bonus.
