The role

As an IT Engineer at Watershed, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our technology infrastructure while ensuring an exceptional employee experience. We’re looking for someone with demonstrated hands-on experience who finds joy in solving problems for people and designing well-functioning, sustainable IT systems, and who thrive in a creative, collaborative work environment. Some traits that are important to our company culture: customer-obsessed, hard-working, inclusive, and optimistic.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape our IT infrastructure during a period of global growth. This position is based in our San Francisco office, where you'll work four days per week as part of our collaborative in-office culture.

You will:

  • Design and implement scalable IT solutions that enhance employee productivity and security across our global offices
  • Manage and maintain our core IT systems, including Okta, Kolide, Kandji, Google Workspace, Notion, and Slack
  • Develop and optimize our global asset management processes for employee devices throughout their lifecycle
  • Create and maintain automation workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks
  • Enhance employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions and proper access management
  • Collaborate with our external IT support provider to enhance service delivery and process optimization
  • Serve as the escalation point for elevated hardware, software, and network-related issues
  • Implement and maintain security controls, including MDM solutions and endpoint security
  • Manage and optimize our conference room technology and A/V systems
  • Develop and maintain IT documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent service delivery

You might be a good fit if:

  • You have 3+ years of increasing experience in IT at high-growth technology companies
  • You have strong hands-on experience with identity and access management systems, particularly Okta
  • You're comfortable with scripting and automation (Python, Javascript, CI/CD, REST APIs) to enhance efficiency
  • You have experience managing and supporting Mac-based environments
  • You have experience with asset management systems and lifecycle management for employee devices
  • You're knowledgeable about IT security best practices and compliance requirements
  • You have excellent problem-solving abilities and a track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • You're an effective communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You have experience supporting a breadth of modern SaaS applications
  • You have experience managing vendor relationships and external service providers
  • You're passionate about creating exceptional user experiences, and find fulfillment in helping others succeed

Nice to have:

  • Experience with zero-trust security frameworks
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with office setup and infrastructure planning
  • Experience with IT compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO)
  • Industry certifications related to our technology stack (e.g., Okta, Google Workspace, Cisco)

 FAQ

Where does Watershed work?

We have hub offices in San Francisco, New York and London, and some remote team members in the US and EU. Most of our jobs need to be in San Francisco / New York / London, but certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description.

What’s the interview process like?

It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience screen (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel after that if the screens go well. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.

What if I need accommodations for my interview?

At Watershed, we are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive recruitment process. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, mental health needs, religious observances, neurodivergence, or pregnancy-related support requirements. If you need assistance during your process, please contact your recruiter.
