The Insurance Growth and Retention Specialist role plays a key part in the direct sales team by maintaining high retention numbers and producing new business premium through their unique ability to connect with insureds. This role requires flexibility, industry knowledge, and strong sales skills to garner positive results. Insurance Growth and Retention Specialist will be responsible for cross-selling additional lines of business, managing 3rd party commercial insurance renewals and new business commercial auto leads, issuing Certificates of Insurance, acting as a liaison between the insured and the carrier.

How You’ll Do It

New Business Sales:

  • Quote and cross-sell additional lines of business.
  • Manage commercial auto leads from large national partners while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Gather business and risk assessment details, verifying key information with customers.
  • Evaluate changes in a client’s account to determine if a new quote is needed or if the existing policy remains suitable.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of workflows within the team and with key partners to ensure seamless processes.

Renewing and Retaining Commercial Client Insurance Policies:

  • Handle inbound client inquiries, issue COIs and requested insurance documents, and update policyholder information within Salesforce.
  • Conduct proactive outreach to clients regarding upcoming renewals, verify policy accuracy, and ensure proper quoting.
  • Work in Salesforce to manage activities and oversee assigned accounts throughout the renewal process.
  • Address policy-related questions to enhance the client experience and build stronger relationships.
  • Act as a consultant, advising clients on policy needs and cross-selling additional products.
  • Input administrative data and upload necessary documents.

Manage Customer Service Requests:

  • Understand carrier relationships and service capabilities to support client needs.
  • Deliver excellent customer service with clear and professional communication.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Navigate multiple internal systems to access and update customer policy information.
  • Serve as a liaison between customers and third-party carriers, ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
The Right Stuff
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with some college course work is preferred. 
  • P&C License required. 
  • 2 years of business to business sales experience.
  • 1 year of Commercial Insurance Industry Experience.
  • 1 year of CRM systems is required. Salesforce experience is preferred.
  • Intermediate communication (written and verbal) skills, to deliver more complex information effectively.
  • Intermediate problem solving skills to be able to manage complex tasks and work through to solution with little guidance and direction.
  • Intermediate awareness of your own tasks, and how it impacts the team and deliverables.
  • Basic leadership skills and some general experience leading work groups or task forces in specific projects.
  • G-Suite Tools, Collaboration tools (slack is preferred), basic office machines, Telephony, Salesforce (or other CRM/AMS).
  • Demonstrated sales skills: exceeding sales performance quotas consistently.
  • Strong Commercial Insurance knowledge: understands policy structure, evaluating risk, classify business with correct class codes, and general understanding of other insurance product lines.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and move through the renewal and new business sales process in order complete the sale.
  • Knowledgeable in determining customer needs: has Ability to rerate and quote Lines of Business according to new information and quote multiple lines in third party portals, understanding of system of functionality and uses.
Base Compensation Range
$60,000$75,000 USD

Location Information 

Unless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver office and from home. Remote team members must live and work in the United States* (*territories excluded), and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
