Instructional Designer

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to develop engaging, self-paced online courses focused on the Aerospike database. This role involves designing and developing high-quality e-learning content, including videos, interactive exercises, and assessments, to help developers, database administrators, and data engineers master Aerospike.

The ideal candidate has experience in technical training, e-learning development, and a passion for making complex database concepts accessible and engaging.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop self-paced e-learning courses on Aerospike database concepts, architecture, deployment, and optimization.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate technical knowledge into clear, structured, and engaging learning experiences.
  • Create storyboards, scripts, and instructional materials for interactive modules, videos, quizzes, and labs.
  • Utilize e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia) to produce multimedia content.
  • Develop hands-on exercises and simulations to reinforce learning.
  • Implement best practices in instructional design, adult learning theories, and UX/UI design for online learning.
  • Ensure courses align with Aerospike’s training objectives and provide measurable learning outcomes.
  • Incorporate gamification, microlearning, and adaptive learning strategies where applicable.
  • Manage LMS (Learning Management System) integration and course deployment.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve course effectiveness based on learner feedback and analytics.

Prerequisites

  • 3+ years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, or technical training.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies.
  • Experience creating training content for databases, cloud computing, or big data technologies (Aerospike experience is a plus).
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Captivate).
  • Experience with LMS platforms and SCORM/xAPI standards.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical topics into digestible, engaging content.
  • Strong visual design and storytelling skills for effective course development.
  • Experience with video editing and multimedia content creation.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Aerospike or similar databases (e.g., Yugabyte, CockroachDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, Couchbase, etc.).
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, C#, Go, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Experience developing training for software engineers, DevOps, or database administrators.
  • Knowledge of interactive learning technologies, virtual labs, and simulations.
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: [$100,000 - $180,000] (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
