About the Position

As our Senior HR Business Partner, you'll be the driving force behind transforming Kikoff's approach to talent management and development. We're looking for someone who can bring the analytical rigor and performance optimization mindset of elite sports teams to every aspect of our employee lifecycle. This role goes beyond traditional HR - you'll help develop and implement data analytics and benchmarking to drive decision-making, shape our high-performance culture, and build scalable people systems that support our rapid growth.

Working directly with leadership, you'll have significant impact on how we develop, engage, and retain top talent while embodying our core values: act with urgency, build in public, extreme ownership, and work playfully but goal seriously. Your success will be measured through quantifiable improvements in performance metrics, talent outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with functional leads to architect foundational talent systems to organize how people grow and get rewarded, including: job architecture, compensation bands, career ladders, and promotion criteria. Work closely with engineering, product, and other department heads to define clear technical and behavioral expectations for each level, calibrate compensation against market data, and create transparent growth paths aligned with business needs.

  • Collaborate with team leads to build and maintain active performance measurement systems that improve how people and teams perform. Partner with each function to develop relevant KPIs, implement regular performance measurement cadence, and create predictive analytics that identify high-potential talent and retention risks within their specific domains.

  • Build automated dashboards and reporting systems that enable leadership to make evidence-based decisions about talent strategy, tracking everything from engagement metrics, the relationship (if any) between office attendance and performance, to the ROI of learning initiatives and the effectiveness of company policies.

  • Lead the evolution of our performance-driven culture by using data to shape policies around remote work, time off, professional development, and other key aspects of the employee experience. Your approach should balance quantitative insights with our company values.

  • Create and implement targeted development programs based on skill gap analysis and performance data, ensuring we're investing in our talent in ways that drive measurable business outcomes.

Who You Are

  • A data-driven HR expert with 3+ years of progressive experience, including at least 2 years in an HRBP role at a venture capital backed tech company. You have an advanced degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology, HR, Business Analytics, or a related field.

  • An analytical powerhouse who goes beyond basic HR metrics to build sophisticated models and derive actionable insights. You have strong statistical analysis skills and experience with HR analytics tools and data visualization beyond calculating averages on an employee engagement survey.

  • A first-principles thinker who can break down complex personnel challenges to their fundamental elements and build innovative solutions that scale. You're comfortable challenging traditional HR “best practices” when data suggests better approaches.

  • A proven builder who has either created or significantly improved performance management systems. You have a track record of using data to drive meaningful improvements in talent outcomes.

  • A strategic partner who deeply understands how HR practices impact business performance and can connect people initiatives to quantifiable business results. You're able to influence across all levels of the organization through data-driven insights.

  • A values-aligned leader who can act with urgency, build transparently, take extreme ownership of outcomes, and balance playful creativity with serious goal orientation in your approach to HR challenges.
