Purpose

Abnormal is growing and growing quickly! The human resources (HR) generalist will be our first hire to lay the foundation for this growth with resolute focus on understanding what people need and how to provide it. We are looking for the unique people-person that is data driven and has had proven experience in HR.  A candidate will be excited about the opportunity to work in a fast moving startup, where grit and problem solving are valued and where they will be able to create the culture for future generations of Abnormalities!  

 

At a high level, this candidate will focus on team culture, training, benefits and, most importantly, scaling our team and offerings for a company that doubles every 6 months.

Responsibilities

 

  • Be an HR leader within the company that brings the latest trends and practices to Abnormal
  • Administer compensation and benefit plans to drive high employee job satisfaction 
  • Manage the organization’s employee database to effectively provide metrics, standard reports and suggest company improvements to HR systems
  • Assist with all internal and external HR matters, including employee complaints, exit reviews & leave requests
  • Participate in developing organizational HR guidelines and procedures, ensuring legal state and federal legal compliance and own the employee handbook
  • Recommend strategies to motivate employees & build culture with the leadership team
  • Coordinate employee development plans and the bi-annual performance management process
  • Work with the onboarding team to improve the process, ensure a high quality experience and help drive global training & development initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related (essential)
  • At least 4 years of experience in HR at fast growing companies (essential)
  • Deep knowledge of HR functions, Labor Laws, best practices, and clear opinions on how to build company culture
  • Works comfortably in a startup environment, particularly a self-starter, eager to problem solve, able to perform under pressure and be comfortable with partial fluidity as the company quickly grows
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills. Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills.
  • Being able to manage multiple projects at one time and excellent record keeping skills
  • Excellent written/verbal skills, strong ethics and the ability to have senior level conversations/presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a SaaS atmosphere is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of multiple HRIS systems and the ability to improve integrations and processes
  • Knowledge of HR federal laws and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, and comfortable implementing new technical systems as needed
  • Experience implementing processes across an entire company and managing change
