We are seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Payroll to lead our US payroll department. This leadership role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of payroll operations and hands-on expertise in Workday Payroll. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all payroll processes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within our payroll function.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and manage the payroll team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for both domestic.
- Coordinate and manage 401K, Payroll Tax, and Workers Compensation audits
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, including processing, auditing, reporting, and reconciliation.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, driving system optimization, troubleshooting, and ensuring best practices are implemented.
- Collaborate with People Team, IT, Legal, Accounting, Stock Administration, and Tax to manage payroll-related projects, integrations, and system enhancements.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations where applicable
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to improve payroll accuracy, security, and efficiency.
- Prepare and review payroll reports and metrics, presenting insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships associated with payroll systems and services.
- Act as a key liaison during audits and ensure all payroll processes are well-documented and compliant with internal policies and external regulations.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting payroll operations and Workday Payroll functionality.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field. Advanced degree or CPA/SHRM certification is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll administration and management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive, hands-on experience with Workday Payroll and ADP is required; proven track record of managing payroll configurations, system enhancements, and integrations.
- Experience processing stock award vesting, including stock options and restricted stock units
- Demonstrated expertise in payroll processing, tax compliance, and labor laws
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex payroll issues and drive process improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead a diverse team.
- Experience with change management and system transitions is highly preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
