The Head of Strategic Sourcing will lead strategic sourcing initiatives and marketplace development for a dynamic and complex construction and energy industry contractor ecosystem. This role will be pivotal in establishing and growing a tech-enabled marketplace, leveraging strategic partnerships, innovative sourcing strategies, and robust contract management to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
In this role, you will develop and maintain relationships with contractors and drive procurement strategies to reduce costs and lead times within our installer and maintenance ecosystem. In addition, this role will oversee vendor safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading sourcing and procurement initiatives and managing teams in a fast-paced, growing environment. This role will report to the Senior Vice President of Operations. In this role, you will lead resources and/or collaborate closely with colleagues and teammates in India.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Strategic Sourcing Leadership:
- Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies that align with the company's goals in the construction and energy sectors.
- Lead the identification, negotiation, and management of key supplier and contractor relationships to ensure optimal cost, quality, and reliability.
- Contract Management:
- Develop, negotiate, and manage complex contracts with contractors, suppliers, and customers, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and value creation.
- Establish and maintain a strong contract management framework that supports the long-term success of the marketplace.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Utilize data analytics and market intelligence to inform sourcing strategies, marketplace development, and contract negotiations.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to stay ahead of the market and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Drive procurement strategies to reduce labor and material costs and lead times within our installer ecosystem.
- Marketplace Development:
- Oversee the design, development, and expansion of a technology-driven marketplace connecting contractors with customers in the construction and energy sectors.
- Collaborate with technology teams to ensure the platform meets the needs of all stakeholders, including usability, scalability, and security.
- Drive marketplace adoption and growth through strategic partnerships, marketing efforts, and contractor engagement strategies to rapidly onboard a geographically and measure/skills diverse contractor ecosystem.
- Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and external partners, ensuring alignment and collaboration on strategic initiatives.
- Leadership and Team Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of sourcing professionals, contract managers, and marketplace specialists.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Required Abilities and Skills

- Experience managing relationships with mechanical, electrical, solar, or general contractors preferred.
- Knowledge of the energy, renewable generation, or energy efficiency industries preferred.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Have an ergonomically correct and functional work-from-home workstation set up; amenable to a hybrid of working from home and in an office setting in the Denver Metro Area, Colorado.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, with a strong focus on the construction and/or energy industries.
- Proven track record of building and scaling technology-enabled marketplaces or platforms.
- Deep understanding of contract management, supplier relationship management, and negotiation best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and strategic planning.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with technology platforms, digital transformation, and innovation in sourcing or procurement is highly desirable.
