About the Role

We are looking for a Head of Content and Community to lead Hungryroot’s editorial content strategy and community engagement efforts. This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice, storytelling, and content experiences that deepen our brand’s connection with customers.

This role will own the development of highly engaging, editorialized content that aligns with our brand promise, supporting recipe and product discovery and healthy eating—two core pillars of our customer experience. It will also drive community growth and engagement, fostering brand affinity and loyalty through content distribution and interactive platforms like our social media channels and Facebook Group Community.

This role will collaborate closely with acquisition and CRM teams to ensure content plays an integral role in customer experience while remaining distinct from pure advertising and marketing efforts. The ideal candidate comes from a digital publishing background in the food space) and has experience leading content strategy, social distribution, and community engagement at scale.

ResponsibilitiesContent Strategy & Production

  • Develop and execute a content vision that brings Hungryroot’s brand promise to life through editorialized, engaging, and personality-driven content.
  • Oversee content creation from ideation to production, ensuring a mix of high-production value and nimble, low-fi content.
  • Lead the development of recipe and healthy eating content to position Hungryroot as both a personal grocery shopper and nutritionist.
  • Prioritize video-first storytelling, including short-form (social, Reels, TikTok) and long-form (YouTube, website, CRM-integrated content).
  • Partner with influencers, content creators, and external production teams to co-create engaging content franchises.
  • Ensure content is integrated into the customer experience, appearing in CRM, community platforms, UX touchpoints (e.g., recipe videos on product detail pages), and social channels.

Social & Community Engagement

  • Oversee the distribution and optimization of content across social platforms, tailoring content to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Grow and manage Hungryroot’s Facebook Group Community, driving meaningful conversation and engagement among members.
  • Develop a strategy for increasing organic engagement, earned media value (EMV), and brand equity through content-driven storytelling.
  • Leverage content to build brand affinity and foster a sense of community, ensuring customers feel connected to Hungryroot beyond the core product experience.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a team of internal and external content creators, social strategists, and production partners.
  • Work cross-functionally with Media & Influencer Teams, CRM, and Product teams to align content with broader business objectives while keeping a customer-first, brand-building lens.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure impact on brand affinity, engagement, retention, and organic reach.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in content strategy, digital publishing, or editorial leadership in the food, health, or lifestyle space.
  • Deep understanding of social media distribution, influencer partnerships, and community engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead content teams and external production partners.
  • Experience developing video-first content strategies for social and owned platforms.
  • Track record of using data and insights to inform content strategy and measure impact.
  • Ability to balance high-production-value content with scrappy, high-impact storytelling.

Expected Pay Range

$160,000-$180,000
