Marqeta is hiring for a Group Product Manager - Compliance role to join the Risk, Fraud and Disputes Team. As a senior individual contributor, you will own the entire Compliance product suite for Marqeta. The compliance product suite includes Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions Screening, Regulation E, Regulation Z and Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2). 

You will be in charge of challenging the status quo and creating a revolutionary suite of compliance products at Marqeta. You will strike the right balance between being compliant while protecting the cardholder experience. You will have knowledge of using AI to streamline compliance operations. You will partner with a diverse set of teams including compliance advisory, engineering, data scientists, risk operations, legal, GTM and marketing. This is a very senior individual contributor role.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland, CA office. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You'll Have

  • Define and execute a clear, actionable strategy that aligns with the company’s overall growth objectives. 
  • Lead and inspire others with a compelling product vision and roadmap, driving alignment and seeking consensus among leadership, peers, and teams
  • Deeply understand compliance for issuers in multiple geographies to identify impact of initiatives or features across the platform. This includes understanding of the competitive landscape, issuing bank requirements and AI based tools. 
  • Develop AI-powered products and features that directly address customer pain points and drive business outcomes. Work cross functionally to ensure customer success. 
  • Own the complete P&L for your suite of products and drive business/product/operational changes keeping financial outcomes top of mind. 
  • Represent Marqeta in industry fairs as thought leader in Compliance for Issuers. Be an expert on the latest trends in compliance in prepaid, debit, credit, ACH and other emerging payments options.
  • Collaborate across customer-facing and technical teams to collect inputs for prioritization of features, including value, effort, usability, and priority
  • Create well-defined Product Requirement Documents focusing on customer and business value and defining metrics to quantify success
  • Deliver customer value iteratively, managing products through various launch phases and follow-on releases.
  • Act as technical advisor/regulatory subject matter expert to educate and evangelize feature(s) with customers via meetings, presentations, and other forums
  • Collaborate with go-to-market partners to develop product collateral, presentations, trainings, and other tools to bring products to customers and prospects
  • Bring context to the team and organization on the industry and customer life cycle 
  • Identify critical metrics to assess success and performance of products, in ways that resonate with the business
  • Ensure all regulatory and bank partner requirements are met through the products, tracking any gaps and ensuring the product is fully compliant

Who You Are

  • 10+ years in product management roles designing and delivering compliance product solutions for payments industry including cards / ACH etc that have delighted customers and driven business growth
  • Proven track record of setting vision and strategy for a portfolio of products and translating it into a roadmap with rigorous end-to-end execution
  • Experience recruiting and growing top talent and building high performing teams, with strong EQ and leadership skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems for technical and business audiences
  • Proficient in identifying key metrics, analyzing data, and balancing quantitative and qualitative information to make decisions
  • “Roll up your sleeves” mentality to make your products and team successful, seeking root causes, assigning ownership, and driving accountability to get things done
  • Creativity and customer empathy to translate features or functions into user flows, experiences, or value propositions that can generate new products 
  • Creativity to propose 0->1 features and solutions, working without clear direction 

Nice-To-Haves

  • Strong understanding of the payment industry ecosystem: card brand regulations, ISO 8583, EMV and digital wallets.
  • Strong technical acumen, curiosity, and familiarity with new technologies, API’s, programming languages, and databases
  • Implementation of solutions processing 100M+ transactions per day
  • Regulatory/Industry certification (CFE, CAMS, or CRCM)

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $170,300 - $212,900
  • Premium: $184,400 - 230,500
  • Premium Plus: $200,400 - $250,500
