Department Overview
The Software Enterprise Deployment and Integration team is the team that delivers solutions to the public safety sector. We are committed to providing technology and tools which will allow customers to focus on their mission, and enable them to respond faster with smarter and safer decisions. We deploy and support products such as Computer Aided Dispatch, Records Management Systems, Jail Management Systems and Mobile Data Computing, among other offerings.
Job Description

Working with customer resources to support the management of GIS data maintenance for the PremeirOne and Flex Suite. Including but not limited to installation of ESRI software, creating and administering models and scripts, data creation and manipulation, and providing first-line GIS data support as customer liaison to Motorola Solutions Inc. support and development teams. They would be heavily engaged throughout the life cycle of the project and would be responsible for providing updates to the teams based on customer changes.

Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25 and data infrastructure.  

  • Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.  

  • Must have very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls  and bridges.

  • Must be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.

  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and/or networking equipment

  • Unique combinations of both multi-site RF communications system and/or computer/networking skills are required.

  • The ideal candidate must demonstrate systems experience and have a minimum of 4 years of related experience with the following equipment: Motorola Base Stations (STR series, GTR series, Quantar, etc.), Centracom Consoles (Gold Elite, MCC7500, MCC7100), Channel Banks and T1 Circuits, Computer IP Networks and Configuration

  • Experience working with RF Infrastructure Technologies to include Motorola SmartZone, Smartnet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment is strongly preferred

  • The Candidate must have skills in the use of various communications test equipment including: Communication System Analyzers, Ethernet Link test sets, T1 Test Sets, TIMS (Transmission Impairment Measurement Set), Digital RF Power Meter

  • Individual must have a knowledge of one or more of the following: Motorola Conventional, SmartNet, Centracom and MCC Console systems, Secure Operations and ASTRO A7.x Digital systems and installation procedures.

  • Must be capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.

  • Ideally the individual should have or be pursuing at least one network certification: Network+, CCNA, NRS1, Related certification

  • Must have experience with one of the following: P25, LMR, Smartnet, SmartZone, RF infrastructure, ASTRO systems, radios or consoles.

  • Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and Motorola Radio Programming Software suite.

  • Must have excellent communications skills and always present a professional image.

  • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations.

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or IT or 4+ years Field Experience as a System Technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography or equivalent discipline or experience.

  • 3-5 years of related job experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of cartographic mapping principles and geospatial processes and applications relating to public safety applications.

  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software applications, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop / ArcPro, cached mapping services, ArcGIS Online applications,

  • Knowledge of Python scripting language.

  • Public Safety GIS knowledge preferred.

  • Motorola Solutions product knowledge preferred.

  • Identify, develop, and uphold data workflows for varying complexity of GIS data needs.

  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to successfully meet deadlines.

  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to product quality.

  • Knowledge of standard office applications.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to successfully resolve conflicts and work as a member of a team.

  • Willingness to travel 10% - 25% of the time

This role is located in the Kansas City area and the successful candidate must reside in the KC area or be willing to relocate to the area.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $63,800 - $127,600 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.


Basic Requirements

  • BS/BA in GIS, Geography, Cartography OR 3+ years of experience working in this environment required.

  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by our government customers.

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
