Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.
The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space enterprise systems. From virtual and augmented reality experiences, to web, cloud, and desktop visualizations; EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision makers. We are looking for a Game Engine Developer that can join our team. As a Game Engine Developer, you will be working with the team to transform complex engineering data and concepts into modern gaming applications, immersive tech experiences and animations.
Work Model
This is a full-time position based in either the Colorado Springs, Colorado or El Segundo, California , which requires 100% onsite work.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Collaborating with game engine developers and designers to produce interactive visualization applications
  • Working with a team to build space exploration and educational immersive technology experiences
  • Participating in technology exploration and research efforts to create photorealistic game engine environments and immersive technology solutions
  • Assisting with prototype demonstrations during technical outreach
  • Training and mentorship will be provided

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Member of the Technical Staff position:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or related technical degree
  • Two years of professional/industry experience (post completion of Bachelors degree)
  • One or more years of experience with commercial game engines (Unity/Unreal), game design, or immersive technology application development
  • One or more years of experience programming in python, C# or C++
  • Ability to both work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Member of the Technical Staff position include:

  • Five or more years of experience with commercial game engines (Unity/Unreal), game design, or immersive technology application development
  • Working knowledge and hands on experience using version control software, code merging, and testing best practices of game engine applications
  • Proven ability to take initiative and successfully complete tasks, lead complex technical projects, and collaborate effectively.


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in STEM or related technical discipline
  • Experience with other programming languages and frameworks (C++, Qt, OpenGL, WebGL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer graphics
  • Completed courses and understanding of 3D math
  • Development experience with graphical user interfaces and lighting in Unreal Engine
  • Experience creating CAD models and texturing
  • Knowledge in developing Augmented Reality and/or Virtual Reality applications
  • Interest or knowledge in space systems and physics engines


We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
