About the Role:
We are looking for an Applied AI/ML Director to join our team to solve exciting business problems for JPMorgan's Global Banking business. Candidates must have strong people management skills and a track record of successfully leading projects across multiple technology, business, and product teams. This is a unique opportunity to apply your skills and have a direct impact on a global business.
As an Applied AI/ML Director, you'll use your technical and people management expertise to drive our AI innovation. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of AI/ML techniques and technology and effective leadership to inspire the team, align cross-functional stakeholders, engage senior leadership, and deliver business results.
What You'll Do:

  • Lead a local AI/ML team with accountability and engagement into a global organization. Hire, mentor, and grow your team. Embrace diversity and foster an inclusive team culture and growth mindset.
  • Set the technical vision, lay out and execute on a strategic roadmap to drive AI innovation.
  • Deliver AI/ML projects through our ML development life cycle with Agile methodology. Transform large ambiguous business requirements into management AI/ML specifications, define milestones and success criteria, and delivery them in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to define goals and roadmaps. Achieve and maintain alignment with cross functional stakeholders.
  • Exercise sound technical judgment, anticipate bottlenecks, escalate effectively, make trade-offs and balance business needs versus technical constraints.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, other equivalent disciplines or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience managing AI/ML or software development teams as a people manager.
  • Minimum 10 years as a hands-on practitioner developing production software solutions using Agile methodology.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Can set teams up to focus and deliver speed and quality. Ability to design good metrics and hypotheses.
  • Strong people management and team building skills. Can coach and grow talent, foster healthy engineering culture, and attract/retain talent. Ability to build a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing team.
  • Ability to inspire collaboration among teams composed of both technical and non-technical members. Effective communication skills, solid negotiation skills, and strong leadership.
  • Can evaluate and design effective processes and systems to facilitate communication, improve execution and ensure accountability.
