Role Overview
We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Internal Platform team—a foundational group focused on infrastructure, developer experience, and platform reliability. You’ll manage a small team of engineers building the systems that power our entire product development organization.

This is a player/coach role: you’ll lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team, while also contributing hands-on to key projects involving Ruby, PostgreSQL, and AWS. You’ll help shape our internal tooling, DevOps strategy, and cloud infrastructure while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to improve how we build and ship software at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Internal Platform team focused on infrastructure, DevOps, and tooling.
  • Ensure the delivery of well crafted technical output with buck-stops-here accountability.
  • Guide the team through planning, execution, delivery, and continuous improvement of internal systems.
  • Serve as a technical leader and hands-on contributor—writing code, designing systems, and mentoring engineers.
  • Own and evolve our Heroku and AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and platform reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, TPMs, and engineering teams to plan and deliver roadmap initiatives.
  • Support your team’s growth through clear expectations, career development, and coaching.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, security, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on platform priorities, risks, and trade-offs.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering management experience, including leading teams in infrastructure, DevOps, or platform contexts.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Solid experience with Heroku and AWS (e.g., ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPCs) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or similar).
  • Proven ability to build and lead small teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience working in early-stage startups or fast-paced product teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills—you know how to translate technical details into business impact.
  • A bias for simplicity, automation, and empowering developers through great tools and systems.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO and paid holidays
  • Monthly Uber Eats Credit
  • Industrious or similar co-working membership
  • Semi annual team retreats and ad hoc meetups
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment
