The Billing Team
The Billing team impacts nearly every initiative within technology at Lob. We enable our teams to sell new products while providing the most competitive prices to our customers. The consistency and accuracy of our billing systems provides the most valuable attribute to our customers: trust.
We work mainly with Node.js, Vue.js, and Typescript. All of our services run on AWS, with a Service Oriented Architecture. We maintain a culture of high collaboration, psychological safety, and performance where individuals can thrive and do the best work of their careers.
As a Engineering Manager, you will:
- Partner closely with the Product team and other key stakeholders to help implement new features and services customers love
- Be responsible for leading engineering projects from design to implementation, and into ongoing operation
- Coach, mentor, grow, and support your direct reports
- Work with other Engineering leaders to support and grow the culture of our engineering team
- Own the performance and outcomes of your team, shipping high quality products and features
What you will bring to this role…
- 4+ years of experience managing high performing software engineering teams in a fast-paced, SaaS startup environment
- Experience with billing or financial systems, and directly interfacing with accounting teams.
- Full-stack (database, backend, and frontend) experience in a modern technology stack. You were an experienced software engineer before becoming a manager.
- A “move fast, take action” mentality. We ha…ve a very successful product and our customers have high expectations for their mail quality. Meeting their expectations sometimes requires us to quickly adapt and learn and implement new technologies.
- Experience leading teams of engineers on technical projects. We’ll want to hear how your teammates developed and grew under your leadership.
- Knowledge of at least one mainstream programming language, including being able to write, read, and understand code in that language. We use Node.js, Go and Elixir at Lob.
- Experience with modern practices related to testing, QA, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and service ownership
- Ownership of mission critical services, and working with teams responsible for on-call rotations supporting production customer workloads.
- Great communication skills. You should be able to explain your approach and the impact of your work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a way that is clear to all.
The compensation for this position is structured to include a base salary + RSUs. Base salary bands are listed below.
CA/NYC Tier:
Base: $195,000.00 - $222,500.00
US Tier:
Base: $185,000 - $210,000
