8x8 is seeking an experienced and passionate Engineering Team Lead to drive the technical development of an exciting new SaaS product within our expanding portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to operate with a startup mindset - experimenting, iterating, and rapidly adapting to market feedback, while leading and mentoring an agile engineering team. This position is based in Cebu, Philippines.

The ideal candidate thrives on hands-on leadership, possesses deep technical expertise in Java-based technologies, and demonstrates proven ability in coaching teams toward engineering excellence. Your past experience as a developer and architect will be crucial in setting and maintaining high technical standards.
Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing agile scrum team consisting of 3-6 Full-stack and QA engineers.

• Accountable for the delivery timeline and ensuring timely completion of projects.

• Take ownership of all technical aspects, from architectural design and coding to production deployment and operations.

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, and DevOps team to deliver innovative, end-to-end product solutions.

• Continuously drive technical innovation and advocate for high-quality software development practices.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience managing software engineering teams in an Agile environment.

• Extensive hands-on experience developing scalable, highly available software solutions.

• Solid track record as a software engineer, preferably in Java/JVM technologies or a comparable stack.

• Deep understanding of front-end and back-end technologies (JavaScript, React, Redux, Java, Microservices architecture, Cloud Infrastructure).

• Strong SaaS mindset with a commitment to automation, data-driven decision making, and robust CI/CD practices.

• Passionate about maintaining high standards of code quality and service availability.

• Strong analytical skills, capable of simplifying complex technical challenges into elegant, efficient solutions.

• Ambitious, motivated by innovation, and enthusiastic about driving technical change within the organization.

• Fluent in written and spoken English.
