Mission Summary:
The qualified engineer will work across multiple AV capabilities to own and lead the closed course V&V aspect of the Capability V&V according to the company milestones.
What you'll be doing:
Ensure Closed Course Readiness for Motional’s Operational Design Domain (ODD)
- Analyze the target ODD
- Draw parallels between the launch ODD and the closed course testing layout
- Work with mapping and test engineering team to develop closed course testing layouts suitable for launch ODD
Define Logical Scenario set for Closed Course Testing
- Coordinate with capability performance owners (CPOs) to select a set of logical scenarios required for the closed course V&V aspect of the capability V&V
- Be responsible establishing appropriate traceability for closed course testing scenarios in Polarion
Improve Test Efficiency
- Coordinate with test engineering team to ensure appropriate test setup on closed course tests
- Improve testing efficiency by combining relevant tests together to drive more throughput
- Propose changes to test infrastructure teams and support the resolutions
- Ensure appropriate test configurations are maintained during closed course tests
Evaluate AV performance
- Review results of the closed course tests and communicate findings to appropriate CPOs
- Identify and capture performance issues from closed course testing using the defect tracking process
- Apply performance metrics to closed course data through use of appropriate tools (applied intuition, redash etc.)
- Identify places of disconnect between simulation and track testing
- Own the resimulation pipeline for the closed course test set
Communicate Results
- Present test observations to triage, developers, and other stakeholders
- Report bi-weekly performance metrics
- Contribute to writing V&V reports on capabilities
Track Behavioral Expectation
- Document and communicate known behavioral shortcomings for a given milestone
- Revise test cases to reflect expectation
- Prepare future test cases to confirm fixes
What we're looking for:
- Strong understanding of necessary V&V deliverables (Product/System/SubSystem/Component/Software Levels) required for entry to service of a safety critical autonomous system
- Experience planning and executing V&V activities on a safety critical system through to the service phase of its lifecycle
- Experience in Autonomous Vehicles or other robotics industries
- Ability to adapt traditional systems engineering and test activities to an Agile environment
- Excellent communication skills; effective in communicating complex concepts and driving resolutions
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with other teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in Engineering or Physics
Bonus Points (not required):
- Masters in Engineering or Physics
- Experience with closed course testing tools such as ABDynamics
- Experience using simulation tools
- Experience developing software
- Experience applying ISO 26262
- Experience functional safety analysis
