Doctorate Summer Internship: Quantum Device Modeling
General Description:
HRL Laboratories, LLC seeks a Doctorate-level intern to develop simulation analysis methodologies for modeling solid state quantum devices.
Essential Duties:
Develop and use simulation tools for one or more of quantum state evolution, electronic structure calculations, and semiconductor device design
Participate in the development of physical models and appropriate numerical simulations of materials and devices for electron-spin-based qubit systems
Effectively present ideas and results in technical presentations, write research reports, and collaborate and communicate with team members
Required Skills:
Coursework or equivalent experience in solid state physics, quantum mechanics, scientific computing, or physics-based modeling Application of scientific software to problems of scientific and technological interest
Knowledge of Python and/or C++ highly desirable
Excellent problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced heterogeneous team environment
Required Education:
Current graduate student in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science, or related discipline
Physical Requirements:
Ability to spend extended periods of time at a computer monitor

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $52 - $60 per hour.
