Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and driven Director of Product Management to join our dynamic team at the forefront of synthetic biology. In this role, you will be responsible for guiding the development and launch of innovative products that meet customer needs and drive business growth. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support, to deliver exceptional products that align with our company’s vision and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: As a key stakeholder within the Ansa Product Development Core Team, collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, operations, sales, and marketing) to drive products through Ansa’s product development process (PDP), lead successful product launches and overall business success. Understand market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform marketing strategies and product positioning.
  • Customer Advocacy: Serve as the internal voice of customer (VOC) within the core team and be a primary customer advocate throughout the product development process. Responsible for customer requirements documentation, use case, and business case development for concept products.
  • Sales Enablement: Equip the sales team with tools, training, and resources to effectively communicate product value propositions. Collaborate with marketing in the creation of datasheets, technotes, brochures and other commercial assets and provide ongoing support for consistent messaging.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional projects from definition to launch, working closely with teams across R&D, Bioinformatics, Sales & Marketing, and Operations. Monitor product performance and manage support across departments.
  • Market Analysis: Analyze competitive activity and barriers to product adoption. Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to inform positioning strategies in growth segments. Develop customer requirements, and product business cases.
  • Collaboration with Marketing: Partner with marketing teams to define product positioning, market launch plans, and create high-quality marketing collateral. Develop compelling messaging and value propositions tailored to various target audiences.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and analyze product performance metrics to identify and implement improvement strategies based on data and market trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or engineering; MBA or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years in product management within the life science industry.
  • Experience within the DNA synthesis market required.
  • Experience with Biopharma/ Cell and Gene Therapy is a plus.
  • Proven track record in new product development and the management of existing products.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience in matrixed environments.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with a knack for data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and a willingness to experiment.
