We seek an experienced and dynamic Director of Data Center Operations Engineering to lead our engineering team. This role requires a strong leader with exceptional people management skills, extensive knowledge of data center critical infrastructures, and expertise in controls engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and leading a team of subject matter experts in mechanical, electrical, controls, and other engineering disciplines who will drive standardization of engineering best practices and provide consistent experience for all sites at CyrusOne.
Responsibilities:

Build and lead a team of subject matter experts in mechanical, electrical, controls, and other engineering backgrounds.

Set and support standards for operating engineers at local data centers.

Own and manage global programs for battery management, fuel and oil analysis, energy efficiency initiatives, critical maintenance strategies, engineering rounds requirements, and workforce intelligence.

Approve new equipment as a standard kit for operations.

Maintain reliability and improve the efficiency of data center operations.

Develop and implement strategies to improve data center performance and sustainability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support datacenter projects and initiatives

Provide points of escalation, technical guidance and mentorship to cross-company engineering teams and partners.

Provide regular communications channels with senior leadership around progress on continuous improvement plans and milestones.

Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in datacenter technologies to provide guidance on go forward plans to meet upcoming customer needs based on these trends.

Develop, update and add consistency to overall standards within the company, to include but not limited to maintenance practice standards, job plan standards for preventative maintenance, construction design standards, incident management practices, RCA follow-up and completion.

Develop plans for construction review and oversite from an Operations Engineering perspective to include commissioning scripts/plans, baseline SOO for controls and operating, oversite for commissioning with the operations team perspective in mind.
Qualifications:
-
Proven leader in datacenter operations with 10+ years of experience in leading teams and processes.

Expert level knowledge in datacenter critical infrastructure and operations

Subject matter expert in Controls engineering with experience in multiple systems and types (DDC and PLC based)

Effective analytical and problem-solving abilities, Process engineering certification preferred (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

Evidence of people management and leadership skills across multi-discipline engineering teams.

Excellent communication skills from verbal and written formats and able to explain highly technical information in ways that anyone can understand.

Able to manage ~25% travel
Education / Certifications:
-
B.S. degree or equivalent work experience.

Certifications within systems requirements and specific subject matters will be considered for experience.
