Director Engineering - Rendering and Rendering Services

What's the role?
HERE Technologies is looking for an Engineering Leader to be part of Maps & Services unit which sits at the core of what HERE does as a leading mapping and location company.
The role is to define and drive execution for HERE Rendering and Rendering Services team that enable customers and partners of HERE to build, visualize, display and use maps and location services across various screen types - in-car, mobile or web. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership and strategic foresight to push the boundaries of what is possible in map rendering while enabling a seamless production process.
Your responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: You will own key technical components in the HERE technology stack that enable rendering and visualization of HERE maps for both BUILD and USE experiences and their manifestation via applications, SDKs, APIs and tools such as editing tools or map styling tools.
• Industry Engagement: You are responsible for actively monitoring technology trends in the market that have relevance for your area of focus. You formulate technology insights and suggestions that help drive differentiation and customer value.
• Strategic Planning: You are accountable for technology key performance metrics for your area of focus including financial metrics such as cost.
• Quality Assurance: You are responsible for benchmarking target KPIs against competition. You will provide input and recommendations on how to set up HERE Rendering for success.
• Project Delivery: You are responsible for driving execution and delivery to customers on agreed product requirements based on input from Product Management.
• Team Management: You will work with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Architecture and Design to drive execution

We are looking for someone, who thrives on building exceptional developer experiences for components and APIs. You possess a deep understanding of agile software delivery for complex products and excel at leading execution across teams through collaboration and example-setting. You support management and product teams in making critical technical and architectural decisions to drive product success.
Leadership and Collaboration:

• Engineering management experience preferably in the gaming or graphics industry or automotive navigation industry.
• Proven experience in leading sizable engineering teams and delivering under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to drive execution through influence in a matrix organization.
• Experience in leading and guiding teams through transformation.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to convey complex technical solutions to diverse audiences, including executives
• Fluency in English is required; German language skills are a strong plus.

Technical Expertise:

• Expertise in C++ is essential; knowledge of GPU programming is a plus.
• Experience with rendering techniques for complex 3D, 2D, and map visualization along with proficiency in modern rendering APIs is an added advantage.
• Expertise with game engines like Unreal Engine or Unity, particularly their rendering pipelines, and/or experience with automotive rendering applications would be a plus
• Familiarity with recent trends in auto-generated 3D content or AI techniques in rendering is advantageous.
