About the role:
Within Netskope Engineering, the Data Team provides global security insights and intelligence to internal and external customers with data that allows them to visualize and act in sub-seconds. We leverage and extend open source technologies to create cloud-scale streaming, data and machine learning platforms that scale horizontally to deliver world-class data as a service to our customers.
DSPM (Data Security Posture Management) is a rapidly expanding area in cybersecurity. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to lead multiple high-impact products in a critical and fast-growing market, directly influencing Netskope’s industry leadership and strategic growth.
As the Director in our Santa Clara headquarters, you will lead a growing team focused on building high-performance, horizontally scalable Security Products on both Structured and Unstructured data for the Netskope Security Cloud. You will wear the hats of architect, manager and technical leader, and seamlessly move between them as you lead the design, development and delivery of all of the core data areas that power Netskope’s cloud-scale metrics, including Streaming, Ingestion, Storage, OLTP and Query Layers.
Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Set and drive the overall strategic directions for DSPM and surrounding products
- Providing technical leadership and strategic direction for Data Platform Services
- Lead and inspire a team of high-performing DSPM engineers in Netskope’s world-class engineering organization, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Balance urgency vs. the incredibly high quality bar expected by both our customers and the broader Netskope organization, through clear and repeatable engineering processes
- Work with Product Management to understand customer requirement specs and designing and implementing high-quality features that ensure reliability, sustainability, scalability and observability of the product line
- Set technical direction, make critical architectural decisions, and ensure the successful delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions
- Collaborating across organizational boundaries to ensure shared roadmap and streamlined delivery of features
Ideal candidates will have experience working in big SaaS / IaaS environments, including:
- Ability to balance business delivery with engineering quality, strong business acumen, and a keen eye for data-driven decision making, and a knack for managing both immediate needs and long-term investments.
- Familiarity or experience with modern cloud technologies including Kubernetes, public cloud platforms, data lakes and data warehouse solutions
- Proven experience in leading teams to build strong technical craft mastery and engineering discipline in dealing with complex architectural problems in high-performance Security platforms including Posture Management
- Proven experience coaching, mentoring and growing developers of all levels: senior, mid-level, junior data teams
- Deep organization capabilities, especially in regards to influence, collaboration and communication with ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations
- Experience building a high performing culture a must
- Confidence under pressure, a mature EQ, and the ability to show a high degree of self control while maintaining a positive attitude despite adversity.
- Willingness to work with a globally distributed team in different time zones.
- The ability to represent the company in appropriate external forums and industry events promoting thought technical leadership.
Education
- BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred
