SUMMARY
This role is responsible for identifying and evaluating renewable energy opportunities to support data center energy needs. The candidate will lead or support project development, including site selection, permitting, and regulatory compliance, while collaborating with utilities, developers, and internal teams to advance renewable energy procurement strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Identify and evaluate thermal generation opportunities to support data center energy needs.
- Lead or support project development, including site selection, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with utilities, developers, and internal teams to advance energy procurement strategies.
- Assess market conditions, fuel supply, and infrastructure feasibility for new thermal projects.
- Drive deal execution by negotiating and closing thermal generation agreements to meet data center energy needs.
- Establish and track KPIs based on successfully contracted and operational MWs.
- Lead commercial negotiations with developers, utilities, and energy suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Analyze and interpret utility rate tariff structures to assess cost implications, optimize energy procurement strategies, and support financial modeling for project development.
- Travel 30% of the time

- Proven experience in utility-scale energy development, including BTM and grid-connected projects.
- 10 years of experience in origination, marketing, gas and/or power trading.
- Strong understanding of energy markets, commodity pricing, interconnection processes, and regulatory considerations.
- Experience structuring complex energy transactions, including hedging and risk management.
- Ability to assess and pursue opportunities across multiple regions.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred: Experience working with both gas and power markets, though complementary expertise across team members is acceptable.
- Strong understanding of utility rate tariff structures, including demand charges, energy pricing, and cost-recovery mechanisms, with the ability to apply insights to project evaluation and deal structuring.
