The Opportunity

As Director, Data Science, you will lead the data science strategy and team for a core product in our AI-native suite that works everywhere our customers work—powering agentic features across surfaces and making our products the best place to write, track, and build. You will shape how data informs product direction, investment decisions, and user experience, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, GTM, and company leadership to unlock growth and deliver measurable impact.

We’re building and growing our Data Science teams in San Francisco and New York, with one Data Science leader anchored in each hub.

In either role, you will build and mentor a high-performing data science team that combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You’ll guide the team in tackling high-impact product, growth, and business questions; develop rigorous experimentation and measurement practices; and help ensure that decisions are grounded in deep user understanding and clear business outcomes.

This is an opportunity to work on a product used by millions, collaborate with a globally distributed and highly cross-functional team, and apply the latest technologies to shape the future of AI-powered productivity.

You’ll be especially well-positioned to succeed if you are energized by building in fast-moving environments, raising the bar on analytical rigor, and developing exceptional teams. This role is ideal for a leader who can move fluidly between vision and execution—someone who can set direction, coach senior talent, influence across functions, and turn ambiguity into focus and momentum.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, experimentation, or a related quantitative field, including significant experience leading high-performing teams.

  • Proven track record of setting data science strategy for product-led or growth-focused organizations and translating business goals into clear analytical priorities.

  • Deep expertise in experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, and measurement frameworks, with strong judgment on how to apply rigor in fast-moving product environments.

  • Strong fluency in SQL, R, Python, and/or modern data tooling, with the ability to guide teams on analytical best practices, data quality, and scalable measurement approaches.

  • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and GTM leaders to influence roadmap decisions, shape product strategy, and drive measurable business outcomes.

  • Track record of coaching senior talent, elevating team performance, and creating an inclusive environment where individuals can do their best work.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence executives and align cross-functional stakeholders around data-informed decisions. Keen eye and attention to detail for the visual display of quantitative information.

  • Strong product sense and business judgment, with the ability to connect user behavior, company strategy, and commercial outcomes.

  • Ability to operate with high autonomy, manage ambiguity effectively, and move seamlessly between long-term strategy and day-to-day execution.

Compensation and Benefits

Superhuman offers all team members competitive pay along with a benefits package encompassing the following and more:

  • Excellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)

  • Disability and life insurance options

  • 401(k) and RRSP matching

  • Paid parental leave

  • 20 days of paid time off per year, 12 days of paid holidays per year, two floating holidays per year, and flexible sick time

  • Generous stipends (including those for caregiving, pet care, wellness, your home office, and more)

  • Annual professional development budget and opportunities

Superhuman takes a market-based approach to compensation so that base pay may vary by location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.
