At eHealth we are passionate about expertly guiding consumers through their health insurance and related options, when, where and how they prefer. We are seeking an exceptional Data Science Manager to join our team, which is developing cutting-edge machine learning (ML) products and solutions to drive better and faster decision making within our company and to better serve our customers. This is a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative environment requiring quick learning, agility, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • You will establish the vision and mission of your data science team, and develop innovative ML solutions for challenging business problems in the areas of call center optimization, transcript analysis, etc.
  • You will manage a team of two data scientists through providing technical guidance, feedback and coaching to them
  • You will be hands-on in all aspects of the project lifecycle from requirements gathering, data acquisition and preparation, hypothesis generation, ideation, coding, testing, and deployment of data science products
  • You will design, develop and implement online and offline testing to test hypothesis
  • You will help foster a culture of supporting business needs when needed by providing data solutions
  • You will work closely with cross functional teams in product, business, and engineering to identify opportunities for innovation and/or productionize ML solutions
  • You will make presentations to leaderships about ML solutions, analysis results and make recommendations for business problems

Qualifications:

  • You must have 2+ years of experience in people management with experience building teams and growing talent
  • You have a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related technical discipline
  • You have the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business requirements for data science projects and deliver through completion
  • You have 5+ years of industry experience in data science or ML which includes building predictive models and designing the associated metrics to evaluate the models
  • You have proficiency in SQL & Python, experience with scripting languages (Unix shell), distributed systems (Snowflake, Spark) as well as solid experience with Git
  • You have 5+ years of experience with ML frameworks, such as Scikit-learn, Spark ML, Tensorflow, PyTorch, etc.
  • You have experience with optimization, A/B test design and evaluation
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present solutions, findings and limitations to non-technical audiences.

The base pay range reflects the anticipated pay range for this position. The actual base pay offered will depend on various factors including individual skills, experience, performance, qualifications, the department budget, and the location where work is performed. Base pay is one component of eHealth’s total rewards package, which also includes an annual performance bonus, plus an array of benefits designed to support employees’ personal and professional wellness.
