Reporting to the Manager - Moderator Performance, the Instructional Designer’s responsibilities include providing course design support to create engaging learning environments that are informed by desired learning outcomes. This includes liaising with subject experts, outlining objectives, and providing feasible timeframes.

To be successful as an Instructional Designer, you should understand how to use business partners to redesign courses, develop new courses or curricula, and create classroom and on-demand training materials. This role will focus on supporting our Critical Harms teams, who focus on the highest risk critical issues. You will implement learning interventions across broad geographies and multifaceted disciplines. Your learning interventions must produce real-world results for our Trust and Safety Operations team and support vendors. To be successful, you will have strong project management abilities and excellent technical writing and research skills.

Please Note: This role may review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive content in line with Roblox’s content moderation practices.

You Will:

  • Take ownership of the full curriculum lifecycle, including development & implementation, gathering feedback, monitoring/evaluating, measuring impact, and managing changes.
  • Consult with partners and subject matter experts to determine when a learning intervention is and IS NOT necessary.
  • Leverage and iterate shared frameworks to deliver ILT courses, facilitator guides, Train the Trainer guides, resource packs, supporting documentation, eLearns, and other scaled learning interventions.
  • Build new learning resources to maximize content retention and understanding.
  • Use the most up-to-date practices to measure training effectiveness, both for the learner and the business.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of proven experience in Instructional Design.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience building learning materials for a scaling, globally distributed, workforce - preference for experience with an operations team.
  • Experience in Trust & Safety, Content Moderation, and/or Critical Harms topics (child endangerment, suicide and self harm, terrorism and violent extremism, etc.)
  • Experience with modern learning tools (Captivate, Articulate, LMS, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • The ability to build learning interventions end-to-end (from needs analysis to measurement).
  • Familiarity with curriculum management best practices (measurement, audits, change management, etc.).
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Education or a related discipline.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$158,820$201,920 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
