Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Analyst to join our Credit Risk team in São Paulo, Brazil, to cover Brazilian financial institutions. Responsibilities include the assessment and management of credit and counterparty risk in a portfolio of financial institutions, including banks, fintechs, and broker dealers. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial markets, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Credit Risk assesses, approves, monitors, and manages credit and counterparty risks on an industry, client, geographic, and transaction basis. Credit risk is defined as the risk of loss arising from the default of a client or counterparty. Credit exposure arises through underwriting, lending, and trading activities with and for clients and counterparties, as well as from a range of operating services such as cash management and clearing activities.
Credit Risk is independent within Risk Management, reporting to the firm's Chief Risk Officer. Our practices are designed to preserve the independence and integrity of decision making. In this role the Analyst will have a focus on the coverage of Brazilian financial institutions clients.
Job responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive credit risk assessments of financial institutions, including analysis of financial statements, market trends, and regulatory developments
  • Prepare detailed credit reports and present findings to senior management and in credit discussions
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including relationship managers, product specialists, and risk management, to assess, monitor and approve credit transactions
  • Monitor and manage the credit risk exposure of the portfolio, ensuring compliance with internal risk policies and regulatory requirements
  • Stay informed about industry trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the creditworthiness of financial institutions
  • Support the development and enhancement of credit risk models and tools
  • Participate in client meetings and due diligence processes as needed


Required qualification, capabilities and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in credit risk analysis, preferably within the financial institutions sector and with familiarity with Brazilian financial markets and regulatory environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in accounting and corporate finance, financial modeling and risk assessment
  • Familiarity with traditional types of credit agreements, including lending and derivatives transactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Highly motivated with a passion for learning and an inquisitive nature
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
  • Interest in client interaction, with strong verbal and written communication skills in Portuguese and English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
  • Strong attention to detail and an excellent work ethic
