The Role

Description

This role is based remotely, but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Pontiac, or Milford, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

This role is subject to U.S. export control restrictions. Successful candidates must either be a U.S. Person (defined by U.S. law as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.

Working directly for the GMD VP of Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain this role is responsible for assisting in the implementation of sound Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain management compliance and operational policy, process, and work instructions from pre-award to post-award and contract close out. This exciting position will be critical to establishing the the overall infrastructure for the GMD Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain compliance consistent with overall best practices for Government and Defense contractors. This position will interface with senior members of the GM Defense organization and relevant government organizations to support audits as necessary. This position will also support the GMD VP of Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain with organizational issues and planning to improve organizational operations.

  • Support the development and lead the implementation of policy, process and work instructions for cradle to grave Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain for GMD.
  • Research compliance issues, interpret regulations formulate recommendations using knowledge of FAR/DFARS and other procurement regulations as appropriate.
  • Assist with the drafting of contractual documents including but not limited to NDA's, TA's and Subcontract Agreements.
  • Support GMD VP of Contracts, Global Purchasing & Supply Chain in other business priorities
  • Lead development of a robust training curriculum in contract/subcontract management and compliance to support GMD Contracts and Subcontracts team.
  • Attend and interface in key meetings representing GMD Contracts, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key GMD Government Contract stakeholders.


Additional Description

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7-10 years of progressive DoD Contracts Management or Government Supply Chain experience with a strong background in Government compliance
  • Must possess experience with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) audit processes particularly around DFARS Business Systems
  • Must possess a deep working knowledge of the end-to end contract process (pre-award, award, post award, and contract closeout) in the Government contracting industry
  • Must have experience implementing SAP systems and managing Government business systems and compliance programs.
  • Strong experience developing policy and process.
  • Strong leadership skill to help implement strategy and provide clear and concise direction to team day to day issues.
  • Strong track record of contracts performance within an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering and developing productive relationships with senior leadership and the Contracts team across the multiple business areas.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.



  • Experience working Part 12 contracting and implementing commercial technology in military applications including subcontracting
  • Ability to quickly understand a wide variety of vehicle and engineering technologies, including both hardware and software within the automotive industry
  • Must be able to work independently as well as the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to interact with individuals throughout a global organization in a professional and business-like manner.
  • Ability to interpret and /or understand financial data
  • Large, public company experience (at least mid-tier) in government contracting (DoD preferred)
  • Strong track record of contracts performance within an organization
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate complex contracts issues to company executives and external representatives.



The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The expected base compensation for this role is: $108,400.00 - $169.600.00. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
