Your day at NTT DATA

The Associate Paralegal (Global Construction & Power) is an entry level role, responsible for working under the supervision of a more senior member of the legal team, and reporting to the Senior Director, Legal.
The role will provide legal support and deliver basic technical, operational or administrative services of a legal nature within the Construction & Power global legal pillar.The focus of the role will be to assist more senior members of the global legal team within the Construction & Power global legal pillar.
This role requires a basic working knowledge and understanding of related laws and best practices and works on legal assignments that are routine in nature and within clearly defined parameters/supervision. Candidates are not expected to be able to apply legal knowledge independently and supervision, guidance and ongoing training will be provided. It is intended that through the learning and development opportunities created by this role, the candidate will develop to become a more senior and trusted business legal advisor and a key.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides basic legal support to business and/or operations on vanilla construction engagements and transactions, under the supervision of a more senior member of his/her legal team.
  • Reviews and provides general advice on simple standard construction agreements such as confidentiality agreements, intercompany agreements, supply orders or other simple legal issues.
  • Review and make minor amendments to legal terms and conditions in simple standard agreements.
  • Support more senior members of the team on more complex legal engagements and transactions such as general contractor agreements, supply chain subcontracts and procurement contracts.
  • Support on contract negotiations and tender reviews.
  • Administers programs and procedures to administer legal policies within the NTT GDC group.
  • Prepares legal reports on the status of legal matters based on detailed instructions and templates.
  • Performs such legal or semi-legal work as may be assigned and supervised by senior member(s) of his/her legal team.
  • Liaising closely with the Procurement/Supply Chain & Finance business teams on legal issues and standard drafting queries.
  • Assist with general workload administration and monitoring of resourcing issues within the team, including through the use of online tools implemented by the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Brings a willingness to learn and a "can do" approach, combined with the willingness to work on a broad spectrum of legal issues and across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Analytical skills and good presentation skills.
  • English language as a must have (plus another European language as highly desirable (particularly German)).
  • High resilience and personal balance.

  • Good command of standard IT platforms.
  • Willingness to travel (albeit the expectation is that this will be infrequent).
  • Developing experience in performing a paralegal's duties or other like roles.

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills (preferably alongside another European language).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally, some industry experience within construction and/or power.
  • Bachelor's degree in law or diploma or other relevant certifications or qualifications in law or related fields would be favourable, but not mandatory.
  • Relevant practical/industry experience will be considered in lieu of professional qualification. Most important, is demonstrable enthusiasm to enter the data center industry and contribute to the Construction & Power function.
  • Possesses or in process of acquiring legal and/or legal support qualifications or has good, relevant industry experience or operations knowledge and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work within a global team across multiple global time zones
  • Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
  • This role is expected to be remote with an occasional need to be on-site in a shared space, and with the possibility of international travel
  • Must satisfactorily pass company-required background check process.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $ 71,100.00 - $ 104,000.00.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
