Position Overview

As an Applied AI Research Scientist at Autodesk Research, you will be doing applied research that will help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world.

We are a team of scientists, researchers, engineers, and designers working together on projects that range from learning-based design systems, computer vision, graphics, robotics, human-computer interaction, sustainability, simulation, manufacturing, architectural design and construction.

This role will report to a Manager of Research Science in the AI Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new ML models and AI techniques

  • Lead on research projects within a global team

  • Review relevant AI/ML literature to identify emerging methods, technologies, and best practices

  • Explore new data sources and discover techniques for best leveraging data

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's or PhD in a field related to AI/ML such as: Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related disciplines

  • Strong background applying Deep Learning techniques (including implementing custom architectures, optimizing model performance, developing novel loss functions, and deploying production-ready solutions)

  • Familiarity in statistical methods for Machine Learning (e.g. Bayesian methods, HMMs, graphical models, dimension reduction, clustering, classification, regression techniques, etc.)

  • Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX or similar frameworks

  • Strong coding abilities in Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Architecture, Engineering, and/or Construction domains, including expertise with industry-specific data formats (e.g., BIM models, IFC files,  AEC Contract Documents and Drawings such as Drawing Sets, Specifications, or Shop Drawings)

  • Knowledge of structured data representation and management in AEC workflows (building information modeling, structural specifications, project documentation)

  • 2D & 3D Generative AI

  • LLMs and Natural Language Processing

  • Multi-modal deep learning and/or information retrieval

  • Computational geometry and geometric methods (e.g. shape analysis, topology, differential geometry, discrete geometry, functional mapping, geometric deep learning, graph neural networks)

  • Publication track record in machine learning conferences and/or journals

  • Significant post-graduate research experience, or 5 or greater years of work experience (actual job title/position will be commensurate to experience)

Responsabilités

  • Développer de nouveaux modèles de ML et de nouvelles techniques d'IA

  • Diriger des projets de recherche au sein d'une équipe internationale

  • Examiner la documentation pertinente sur l'IA/ML afin d'identifier les méthodes, les technologies et les meilleures pratiques émergentes

  • Explorer de nouvelles sources de données et découvrir des techniques permettant d'exploiter au mieux les données

Qualifications minimales

  • Master ou doctorat dans un domaine lié à l'IA/ML tel que : Informatique, mathématiques, statistiques, physique, linguistique, génie mécanique, architecture ou disciplines connexes

  • Solide expérience dans l'application des techniques de Deep Learning (y compris la mise en œuvre d'architectures personnalisées, l'optimisation des performances des modèles, le développement de nouvelles fonctions de perte et le déploiement de solutions prêtes à la production)

  • Familiarité avec les méthodes statistiques pour l'apprentissage automatique (par exemple, méthodes bayésiennes, HMM, modèles graphiques, réduction de la dimension, clustering, classification, techniques de régression, etc.)

  • Familiarité avec PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX ou des frameworks similaires

  • Solides capacités de codage en Python

Qualifications préférées

  • Expérience dans les domaines de l'architecture, de l'ingénierie et/ou de la construction, y compris l'expertise avec les formats de données spécifiques à l'industrie (par exemple, les modèles BIM, les fichiers IFC, les documents contractuels AEC et les dessins tels que les jeux de dessins, les spécifications ou les dessins d'atelier)

  • Connaissance de la représentation et de la gestion des données structurées dans les flux de travail AEC (modélisation des données du bâtiment, spécifications structurelles, documentation du projet)

  • IA générative 2D et 3D

  • LLM et traitement du langage naturel

  • Apprentissage profond multimodal et/ou recherche d'informations

  • Géométrie informatique et méthodes géométriques (par exemple, analyse des formes, topologie, géométrie différentielle, géométrie discrète, cartographie fonctionnelle, apprentissage profond géométrique, réseaux neuronaux graphiques)

  • Expérience de publication dans des conférences et/ou des revues sur l'apprentissage automatique

  • Expérience significative en matière de recherche post-universitaire, ou 5 années ou plus d'expérience professionnelle (le titre du poste sera proportionnel à l'expérience)
