Job Description

Keeping out the cheaters and making the game environment fair for everyone is a constant challenge and a rewarding struggle. We all know how important it is to give people the chance to show off their skills without having to contend with script kiddies running aimbots.

Think you have what it takes to make the next generation of games a place people want to play? Join XDefiant and show us your game security skills and help us lock out the losers who need cheats to even be on the leader board.

We are looking for a highly talented, motivated, and experienced person to work with us on XDefiant, a new multiplatform online multiplayer action game based in our San Francisco studio. XDefiant is a free-to-play, fast-paced arena shooter that combines intense gunplay with personalized loadouts and specialized factions, as teams of gunfighters battle for domination.

You will be entrusted with protecting the game client from hacks and exploits, hardening the code and data running on the player’s PC, and blocking people who want to cheat the system. You will be an essential part of a team holding the player’s connected experience as the core of its mission, ensuring that players compete on a level playing field.

You’ll also be part of the diverse Ubisoft San Francisco team. We embrace a variety of work situations based on what is best for the team, and we welcome people working in our SF office, remotely within the continental US, or some combination of the two. We put a priority on supporting our team members and what makes them happiest and most productive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Secure the game client and its interactions with the game servers
  • Integrate and maintain external anti-cheat tools and services in the game engine
  • Investigate exploits and cheats happening in our game and others
  • Collaborate with other engineers to improve the game’s security
  • Educate content creators and gameplay engineers on how to maximize game security
  • Maintain and extend documentation on security best practices

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • C/C++ experience with understanding of multi-threaded programming techniques
  • Experience with off-the-shelf anti-cheat products, such as Easy Anti-Cheat or Battleye
  • Low-level experience with Windows and the ways exploits take advantage of the OS
  • An autonomous, problem-solving, and open-minded attitude
  • Debugging and analytical skills
  • Self-directed, focused, and detail-oriented work skills
