The Role 
As a Backend Software Engineer focused on AI R&D Integration, you’ll play a critical role in developing and implementing backend solutions that bring advanced AI capabilities into the platform. You’ll work in close collaboration with our R&D team to rapidly iterate on new AI features, integrating experimental models and data-driven solutions into our product. This role requires an agile approach, as you’ll bridge the gap between R&D and production, iterating quickly and collaborating across functions to ensure that new capabilities seamlessly meet user needs.

Core Responsibilities
· Collaborate closely with AI R&D: Partner with R&D engineers to understand and integrate AI models, adapting backend systems to support experimental features and iterative improvements.
· Design and maintain scalable systems: Architect backend solutions that support high-performance AI-driven applications, balancing rapid development cycles with robust production quality.
· Develop APIs for AI-enhanced workflows: Build APIs that facilitate the integration of AI capabilities, ensuring seamless interaction between new features and core platform components.
· Optimize for performance and scalability: Continuously improve the backend infrastructure to meet the low-latency demands of data-intensive legal applications.
· Enable rapid iteration: Support a CI/CD environment that allows for fast prototyping and deployment of new AI features.

· Backend languages: Python, C#, Java

· Database systems: Lucene, PostgreSQL, Qdrant

· Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes

· CI/CD and build tools: GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Gradle

What We Require

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

· Proven experience in backend development for live production environments, ideally with exposure to AI model integration.

· Strong grasp of data structures, distributed system architecture, and API design for microservices.

· Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

· Ability to balance rapid iteration with code quality and production stability.

The Compensation range for this role is 77,605.20 - 155,209.20 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's location, skills, experience and qualifications.
