The Role

About Us:

We're on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to be able to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can't build or modify the software we use on them every day. At Notion, we want to change this with focus, design, and craft.

We've been working on this together since 2016, and have customers like Pixar, Mitsubishi, Figma, Plaid, Match Group, and thousands more on this journey with us. Today, we're growing fast and excited for new teammates to join us who are the best at what they do. We're passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide.

Notion is an in person company, and currently requires its employees to come to the office for two Anchor Days (Mondays & Thursdays) and requests that employees spend the majority of their week in the office (including a third day).

About The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to join our Accounting team. In this role, you will manage the company's accounts payable process, ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, support the month-end close accrual and reconciliation process, and maintain strong vendor relationships. You will work closely with other departments to streamline processes and implement best practices that support our financial operations. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency.

What You'll Achieve:

  • You’ll manage the company's global accounts payable process, ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices, and review and audit vendor banking detail updates against bank letters or voided checks.
  • You’ll be responsible for overseeing our T&E software, policies, and processes, ensuring that they are effectively managed and optimized to meet the company’s needs.
  • You’ll be responsible for reviewing and issuing all purchase card requests that adhere to the company’s expense policy, ensuring that every request is thoroughly examined for compliance and authorization.
  • You’ll support the month-end close accrual and accounts payable reconciliation process, preparing necessary documentation and ensuring accuracy.
  • You’ll streamline and optimize accounts payable processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • You’ll collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless financial operations and accurate financial reporting.
  • You’ll ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • You’ll perform regular reviews of accounts payable aging reports and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • You’ll develop and maintain metrics and reports to track accounts payable performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • You’ll manage and oversee AP contractors, ensuring their work aligns with our company’s standards and expectations. You’ll also provide the necessary support and guidance to help them succeed in their roles.
  • You’ll work closely with various stakeholders within Finance and across the company to identify problems, process gaps, and propose reasonable and creative solutions to improve processes, including opportunities for automating manual processes.
  • You’ll assist in the financial audit process by preparing and providing necessary audit documentation and responses.
  • You’ll maintain strong vendor relationships, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • A degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • 5+ years in accounting or AP roles
  • Experience working with international subsidiaries and knowledge of VAT
  • Proven experience with developing scalable, efficient and controlled processes
  • You are a self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively drive business results
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and high degree of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You are organized and execution focused, with an ability to work independently
  • Experience using NetSuite, Zip, Expensify, Navan or similar accounting software ****

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with a high-growth SaaS company
  • Experience using Notion
